A beautiful semi-hidden gem along the main road.

They’ve got a great selection of wine and a tasting flight of hot chocolate. Sweets too, everything we tried was great! The cookies, the mexican brownies that were just spicy enough, as well as they mini dubai cake which was one of the better renditions of the dish I’ve tried (and trust me I’ve tried a lot, even the original chocolate too back home).

The owners were very friendly, helpful, and welcoming as well.

Ocotillo Chocolate and Wine: A Delightful Escape!

The Courtyard FBGTX (at Elk & Main) offers a fantastic cluster of four unique shops—The Market, Ocotillo, Six Twists, and The Harvey—all anchored by a truly charming central German plaza. Our recent visit centered on Ocotillo Wine Bar, and it proved to be a standout experience that felt like stepping into a cozy European retreat.

The outdoor seating area is immediately striking, evoking the ambiance of a classic German courtyard. It’s an incredibly cozy and inviting space, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the atmosphere of the historic Main Street area.

Beyond the charming setting, the service at Ocotillo is genuinely top-notch. We were treated exceptionally well from the moment we arrived, showcasing a commitment to hospitality that makes the experience truly memorable.

Ocotillo features a modern and interactive wine-tasting system: automatic wine dispensers. With 16 wines available for sampling at any given time, you simply load a card and make your selections at will. The owners gave us an explanation of each wine. We enjoyed several very flavorful samplings from vineyards around the world, making the experience both fun and personalized.

However, the absolute highlight of the visit was the hot chocolate. It was rich, perfectly creamy, and so decadently delicious that calling it “borderline sinful” might be an understatement. This beverage alone is worth the trip and provides the perfect complement to the wine offerings. There are many other chocolate selections as well.

The Ocotillo Wine Bar is a must-visit destination within The Courtyard. Whether you’re looking for global wine tastings or a truly exceptional sweet treat, this shop provides excellent service and a beautiful, cozy environment that will make you want to linger. Salute!

Delightful (relatively new) wine bar on East Main in FBGTX, nestled behind Six Twists. The owners of Six Twists decided to expand and branch out with this wine bar venture…. It works! The headlines: great wines, chocolates, tapas and desserts. All top-notch. Very complimentary expansion of the Six Twists team. Highly recommend you stop by!

I’m the owner of Mead Wine Tours — a fully customized, concierge-style wine tour service based right here in town. I’ve visited nearly every tasting room and wine bar in the area, and I can confidently say this:

You won’t find better quality wine at any wine bar in town than what Ocotillo is pouring.
Not only do they showcase some of the finest wines Texas has to offer, but their curated selection also includes exceptional wines from California and Europe, making it a standout for both local and international palates.

If you’re looking for authenticity, craftsmanship, and serious flavor — Ocotillo should be at the top of your list.

This was the highlight of our trip to Fredricksburg. We had not only some of the best wine we’ve ever drank, but amazing cookies and brownies as well. The owner was so kind and explained all of the variations of wine available on tap, and she happily answered our (many) questions. She was super knowledgeable and helped guide us towards wines she thought we would like best based on our individual preferences. The food and atmosphere are also incredible. Definitely a must try on Main Street!

Absolutely love this hidden gem on the strip! The owners are incredible and passionate about what they do! They have an amazing variety of wines, but we had had too much the night before..HA! We opted for the drinking chocolate. We are trying their other locations, which includes harvest and sux twists today. HIGHLY recommend!

The cozy space offers a chill vibe. Walls of modern electronic wine dispensers trickle out sample tastings or glass pours. Rows of bottles from around the world can be enjoyed in the tasting room, on the spacious patio, or can be taken to go. It’s the only place I know of in Fredericksburg with a focus on wine, chocolates, and desserts. The drinking chocolate flight is all the rage but I’ve yet to try myself because I always get a glass of wine. The owners are enthusiastic about the wines they have on offer and the chocolate chip cookies are house-made and to die for! Excellent stop off after dinner as they are open until 9:00.

Our family kinda stumbled across this outstanding establishment. Every single beverage and desert had an amazing story of specially sourced ingredients and specialty wines that are hand picked for their special processes and makers. The service was off the chart, Bobby the owner sat down by us and had so much passion in all products they carry and why certain products made the cut for their high expectations for quality we could taste that was simply outstanding. We found a gem here in Fredericksburg. We highly recommend this well run establishment to all that are looking for a cut about with a vibe that is so chill and welcoming.

Ocotillo has turned a Fredericksburg-skeptic into a fan. We stumbled into this lovely wine bar on the road back from Marfa, and ended up hanging for a several hours with its wonderful steward, Jeri. That magical evening turned into a birthday trip — I truly couldn’t wait to go back! We had amazing wine, and scrumptious food. But the best part of all is Jeri. She is incredibly knowledgeable, passionate, and helped facilitate a deeper curiosity for wine — a subject which has historically felt intimidating to me. She may very well be one of the coolest, most interesting people in Texas. Truly, I love Ocotillo and I can’t wait for our next adventure in the Hill Country!

Ocotillo is exactly what I was looking for out of a wine tasting when I came to Fredericksburg. It’s a small, intimate wine bar tucked in the courtyard behind Six Twists with local and imported wines abound and a specially curated collection of whites and reds on a tap system that can be bought in increments of 1oz, half pour, and full pour.

The owner and curator of this wine bar (Jeri? Jerry? Gerry?) may be the nicest person in Fredericksburg. They are so intelligent and eloquent in how they present and explain the wines here. If you can swing by while they’re not super busy I fully recommend getting the full tasting and getting the run down on everything.

On top of the wines I think I had the best brownie and cookie of my life here, I need to come back for the drinking chocolate tasting (which can be paired with the wines, incredibly) and keep an eye out for some of the upcoming menu items they have. I saw an espresso machine behind the counter, but must have missed what it was for in my amazement for all that this tiny little wine bar had to offer.

Thank you all so much!
