Ocean View Restaurant, formerly known as Ocean View Family Restaurant and Ocean View Deli, is an iconic restaurant in the Ocean View/Bethany Beach area. Mostly known for breakfast, we offer a great selection of soups, sandwiches, burgers, and salads. OVR offers fresh made, home style meals. Most everything is made from scratch using old family recipes.

I ordered the OVR Avo Toast to go from Ocean View Restaurant, and it was excellent! The avocado was super fresh, the marble swirl rye bread was great, and the toppings were balanced and flavorful. It was also beautifully presented. Even in a to-go box it looked vibrant and inviting, which made it that much more enjoyable. The order was ready quickly, packaged well, and just as tasty as dining in. I’ll definitely be back!

Great local place for good food at a good price. Popular for breakfast. Most items are terrific but today was a miss on the Eggs Benedict – added crab for $6 and it was just a couple tablespoons of what looked like Special grade, not lump/backfin, the “Canadian bacon” was a slice of deli thin ham, and there was a serious dearth of hollandaise, (see pic.) Pancakes, home fries, omelets, meats, coffee are all good.

We always love the breakfasts here but today we had lunch and I tried the chili on the brunch menu and it was excellent. Friendly atmosphere and our server, David, was very attentive.

I ordered the gluten free pancakes. It was $8 for two pancakes, an additional $2 per pancake for gluten free and extra for blueberries. It ended up being $14 for my blueberry gluten free short stack. I took a bite and they were the worst gluten free pancakes I’ve ever had. The server asked how everything was and I told her/showed her the inside of my pancakes were doughy. I told her they weren’t good. She ensured me they were fully cooked and walked away. She saw I was not taking them home with me or eating them. When she saw me taking a picture of them she asked if there was something wrong with them in a rude tone. I told her they weren’t good. She responded “well you could have told me there was something wrong with them”. I told her I did tell her they weren’t good and were doughy like inside. She became abrasive and I walked out since I had already paid. I used to waitress and we never made anyone pay for food they didn’t eat or like no matter what the reason was. I also would not speak to customers the way she did.

Prices reasonable. Waitress was snarky and had an attitude for some reason. I asked to sit by fireplace as i was the only customer and that didn’t happen. I asked if the coffee was strong as I like strong coffee and I would order a soda if the coffee isn’t strong. She instantly got an attitude and said I don’t drink coffee, I dont know. I used to wait tables for many years so im not hard to wait on but this experience ruined my breakfast experience. The guy that usually waits on me is an excellent waiter. Wonderful neighborhood gem! Their breakfasts are amazing, coffee cup always kept full, and service with a “hon” and a smile! We enjoy going off season when we don’t have to wait for a table but it is worth the wait during the season if you want a great meal!

Went here for brunch on 7/21. The biggest thing around this town is all the major restaurants are packed out the doors and have a hour long wait which gets extremely frustrating. Came here on a whim since it didn’t scream ”tourist spot”. We were able to sit down immediately and order food. The pancakes were fantastic, the eggs were cooked perfectly and overall the food is great here. Ocean view is a great spot to eat at. Definitely recommend especially if you’re looking to get away from the “touristy” restaurants around town that have extended wait times to even sit down.

We made a reservation using the open table app for two people at 6:15 PM. We arrived 10 minutes before our reservation time and we’re told that they did not have our table nor would they have our table due to an overbooking and blamed everything on the open table system. My question for the staff was why they never bothered to call us and tell us they were overbooked, or why they didn’t simply cancel the reservation. They didn’t have answer. Our options were to wait over an hour for a table, or we could sit at a there is those two I was just a little chilly so I came over and sat in the sun bar, staring at a coffee machine. We chose to stay. 20 minutes later, another party of two in the same situation as ours arrived and they seated them in an actual table after a 15 minute wait.
We ordered jumbo buffalo wings for an appetizer. JUMBO is an outright lie. These were the smallest wings I’ve ever had in my life. They were very crispy and the sauce was great but THE WORD JUMBO was misleading when you’re expecting big wings.
My salad arrived at the same time as my main meal. I didn’t end up eating it because the main dish would have gotten cold. I had specifically asked that it come ahead of time.
My meal was the seafood risotto which was supposed to include scallops, lump crab, shrimp, and bacon. While the risotto overall was very delicious, I could not find any lump crab at all. The scallops were the size of the smallest segment of my pinky finger. To be fair, the shrimp were absolutely amazing and were very large; hands down the star of the dish.
For our troubles, we were offered a 10% discount which equates to taking the side salad off the bill. This place is charging premium prices for food and service that is anything but.
