The lunch specials are not to be missed — it’s the kind of deal that makes you forget about your afternoon meetings and just focus on the joy of good food. So good, in fact, we ended up going twice in one week. Yes, it was that irresistible.
The staff is genuinely friendly, attentive, and welcoming, making you feel like a regular even on your first visit. Fair warning: lunch hour is busy, but that’s just proof that this little gem is doing something right.
If you’ve been craving a taste of Japan, this is your spot — cozy, authentic, and utterly satisfying.
The shopkeepers are so friendly and make sure we got what we needed!
Since I could hardly find any Ikura in OK. I got like 5 Ikura nikiri sushi and I was just in heaven! Very fresh and tasted amazing!
Thank you for taking care of us.
If the menu was condensed they’d do better financially; service time would be quicker, customer turn around would be higher, and items could be more affordable thus creating an incentive for greater orders and higher spending from customers would occur more frequently. Having a current menu posted online would also have a positive impact on the “call-in orders preferred”. (┛◉Д◉)┛彡┻━┻
Service time was too long; it was less busy than usual, but I had to wait 45 minutes for my meal. ┐( ˘_˘)┌
The rice-to-fish ratio is not good and the rice was overcooked. I heard customers who walked past me, leaving the store, say the “food was so disgusting”. I don’t think it was that bad, but I’ve had better. I felt the menu items were overpriced given the quality, location, and the fact that you could get better quality all-you-can-eat sushi elsewhere for the price of two rolls from Ocean Sushi Deli.
It’s nothing to look at inside, just a few wonky tables and chairs. But the huge menu, the freshness of the fish and the charm of the staff will win you over.
If I worked in downtown Monterey, I’d be here every week.
