In my humble opinion, Ocean Seafood & Raw Bar is the classiest and most upscale restaurant in Willets Town Center. Furthermore, the food in terms of taste and quality is superb.
My mom and I own several properties in the Roaring Fork Valley, and we enjoy spending time in the Willets Town Center, with its plethora of outdoor dining across a range of cuisines and price points. There’s Mezzaluna for Pizza, K’Gen for sushi, La Karita for Mexican, Zane’s Tavern for pub grub, not to mention many others. However, I feel Ocean Seafood & Raw Bar has the poshest vibe (and perhaps prices too) and a beautiful piece of real estate nestled in between K’Gen and La Karita and viewing out onto The Willets Town Center Park.
Since I am on a budget, Mom and I went for happy hour, which runs from 4-5pm.
When we arrived at Ocean Seafood & Raw Bar around 4:30pm on a Wednesday in September, there were a few patrons but not many (the weekends are packed usually), so we had our choice of tables, and we selected a fine one to appreciate the GORGEOUS Colorado afternoon.
During Happy Hour there are extensive food and drink specials, and you can also order from the regular menu, which is wide-ranging in terms of seafood.
My mom had 6 oysters (3 East coast, 3 West Coast), for $2 a piece. The regular menu price is only $2.75, so no matter if it is happy hour or not, the oysters are a bargain compared to Clark’s in Aspen. She loved them, preferring the East Coast by a neck over the West. She also had The Steamed Wild Cape Cod Mussels, for a happy hour price of $15, which come with elk sausage. The mussels were slightly overcooked as was the sausage, but the white wine, rosemary, garlic and tomato sauce that the mussels were in was DIVINE. I literally asked for more garlic bread (which the friendly server gladly brought for us) to soak up every single generous drop of this lovely concoction.
I ordered four shrimp cocktail, at the happy hour price of $3 a piece. The shrimp was excellent, very fresh and juicy and well-portioned in terms of size. I also had a regular Caesar salad for $10, which, for me, was the perfect side to have with my delicious shrimp. I am a big eater, so the salad could have been bigger, but the dressing was good and the croutons nice and crispy.
I am excited to go back and experiment with more of their vast menu options in a luxurious setting, indoor or out.

Ocean truly has it all. Situated in Basalt, CO right outside of Aspen, this restaurant has everything you’re looking for in regard to excellent service, vibrant atmosphere, reasonable pricing for the valley, and truly delicious food. Overall, our experience was superb.
Starting with perfectly crafted cocktails and mouthwatering appetizers (grilled oysters are a must try), our evening was off to an excellent start. Our server, Martha, was really phenomenal. Perfectly attentive, master of the menu, and truly outstanding with her service throughout the evening.
The atmosphere is vibrant, and perfectly so. The food, of course, was also exquisite. The sea bass was cooked to perfection, fish tacos a lighter but certainly delicious choice, and above all the Sabor del mar is a must have. Owner and chef Mario certainly knows exactly what he’s doing.
A family of 9, everyone had a fantastic evening. We will definitely return to this excellent establishment whenever we return to the valley. Thanks again!

I went when it first opened and it was great. Last night not so much. Mid-Valley needed a more upscale place and the focus on fish and seafood is a great addition to the neighborhood. But last night was bad. My friend and I shared the tartare trio. It was not as The tuna had clearly been frozen and the salmon was mushy and too wet. The fried chips didn’t compliment it well. Then we both ordered the halibut and sent it back. All the elements on the dish were clearly prepared separately and just put on the plate that way so it did not come together as a cohesive dish. The fish was undercooked, the couscous was overcooked and the sauce did not marry with anything. It was a huge disappointment. After sending it back I ordered the lobster risotto. It was so heavy that the lobster got completely lost. It had way too much cream and cheese in it. A good risotto needs neither. I’m giving it two stars on the hopes that this was an off night. But if this place is going on to survive at these prices, it’s got to do better

I’m not a fan of this place for several reasons. First and foremost the restaurant was freezing in the middle of December. No heat!!! Almost everyone had a jacket on while eating and nothing was noticed or done to change the comfort level. Secondly they are one of the RFV restaurants that is in desperate need of help. 15 mins for 2 glasses of wine and a Diet Coke. The fish we ordered was over cooked and apparently the chef will only prepare to their preference, yet the waiter asks how we like the fish done? The risotto was awful, tasted like vomit to be frank. The oysters (west coast) that we had weren’t tasty at all. Waiter was nice but pushed to her limit. Most of the tables began to fill up and I noticed the bartender had to pitch in and all staff seemed anxious and semi panicked. There were 3 people working and all tables had been picked up and sat…… it’s not a huge place but you could tell it is hard to work there.
This place is just a mess. The owner and management needs to make some major changes. We not be back here, sorry but we had way to many negative aspects come into play during our experience to try again.

Probably the BEST Restaurant in the Valley! I had the ceviche which was outstanding ! Main course was scallops on a bed of corn. Beautiful presentation bursting with flavor! I did not give them a 5 because the wine portion was maybe 3 ounces.
Went back for a 2nd time. Wine pour much better. Cesar salad , great choice, delicately shaved Parmesan, crunchy romaine, lightly dressed. Scallops while still delicious, corn , bacon over salted and slightly greasy. Not the fresh taste of 1st encounter. Still the best in town. Excellent service!

My wife, her sister, brother in-law and myself went to Ocean for the first time last night for a nice celebration dinner. I’m so glad we decided to check this place out, it is a fantastic addition to the mid valley. The service was top notch and the food was absolutely incredible. I had the Sabor Del Mar which was a nice mix of King Crab, Halibut, Scallops, Shrimp, and Mussels. I don’t even really like Halibut but I do typically enjoy the other parts of this dish and I decided that I would just eat around the Halibut if I didn’t enjoy it. I was totally wrong about that. I don’t know what you guys did but that Halibut was actually the best part of the dish, so keep up whatever magic you guys are doing back there. My wife got the Scallops, she said it was the perfect portion size and she loved every bite. My in-laws enjoyed the Lobster Risotto, they said it was amazing. My brother in law can be a picky eater, but he finished his plate first, so that says something. We capped the night off with a delicious Plantain and Ice cream dessert and they nailed it with that as well! Wonderful food!
But let’s talk about service. Kate was our server and she did a fantastic job with us, very attentive and had all the answers to all of our questions. Our glasses were full the entire time and she checked on us often, but not too often in order to allow us to enjoy the meal and have a nice conversation. But the table next to us…. oh boy… There was an elderly gentleman (he doesn’t deserve to really be called a gentleman) and his family sitting at the table basically right next to us that was treating Kate and the rest of the service staff horribly, it was unbelievable. I don’t know what the issue was, and I don’t really care, but the elderly guy was shouting at Kate and the rest of the staff, not only at their table on the patio next to us, but he also felt like it was necessary to stumble into the restaurant (without his mask on) and berate the employees inside next to the bar as well. But my hat goes off to your waitstaff, all of them handled this guy with so much class and dignity that I just sat there dumbfounded. The patience that they exercised was outstanding. If I was a restaurant owner, I would be so proud to have any of your waitstaff employed in my establishment. I don’t write a lot of reviews, I kind of think they are annoying, but you all deserve the recognition on how fantastic your staff performed last night. Don’t be upset about this one customer and his garbage family, there was not a thing that any of you could have possibly done to warrant their disgusting behavior. They probably won’t come back, and who cares, your food is fantastic and they had Texas license plates on their vehicle when they pulled off, you will get plenty of local clientele if you keep up the way you treated us, and them for that matter.
So, great job! My wife and I live about two blocks away, we are both young professionals who grew up in Basalt and will continue to frequent Ocean because of the amazing job you guys did with the food and service. I’m so glad a nice restaurant has filled in the void that was there after Smoke left and I will recommend that my friends and family come and visit you as well. Thank you for adding yet another great restaurant to the mid valley, being a local property owner, classy places like this only add value to my home as well! I very much look forward to our next visit!

Although we live in Aspen we often drive to Basalt for dining, as we find Basalt much more laid back with wonderful restaurants more reasonably priced than Aspen. Our first experience at Ocean in Basalt was wonderful, definitely 5 Star food quality, presentation and service. Our principal residence is in the Hamptons, coastal New York, and we love seafood, Black Sea Bass being one of our favorites fishes in the sea. Rarely found on a menu in the Hamptons, so quite surprised to find it in Basalt, Colorado! The fish was fresh as could be (owners told us they use their products within 2 days or discard them) and exquisitely prepared in a delicious broth of fresh tomato, fennel, onion, and accompanied by French toasts. Could to have been better! Our friend has the scallop risotto and she found it equally delicious. And both dishes too reasonably priced! For starters we had the mixed ceviche (scrumptious) as well as the popcorn shrimp and calamari (large portion and fabulous). All accompanied by masterfully prepared margaritas, which were so good we went back the next day for happy hour!
Folks, we love many of the restaurants in Basalt and it’s a great dining destination. Happy to report there’s a new winner in town and it’s called Ocean.

We really wanted to enjoy this restaurant, I work in the service industry and understand how hard it can be but bad service sucks and it wasn’t very busy. We live in Glenwood and drove up for my girlfriend’s birthday, it was probably one of the worst birthday celebrations we’ve ever had.
The bartender sat us because he was apparently the only one there at the time. He was great, seemed like the only person with a sense of urgency. We ordered some happy hour drinks and apps, our server Kate decided to chat with a regular at the bar before putting our drinks in. And when she brought us our cocktails she told us there was no soda water so she used Champagne instead, when I told her the drink wasn’t very enjoyable she seemed offended. She did nothing to make it feel like a special occasion, she simply wrote happy birthday on the receipt…
The food was decent, although the steak was not a good cut of meat by any means. The ambiance was also not great, a group with 4 children came in and were screaming and blasting audio from their iPads. Not what we expected, especially after the check was almost $200.

Definitely the best restaurant in Willits. The food is unreal and very well curated. Fresh seafood. Oysters were so good. Great service. My friends got alcoholic beverages and loved them, even ordered another! All around a great restaurant. I could eat here every day. 6 stars for the halibut.
