My wife and I celebrated our 1-year anniversary in the St. Pete / Clearwater Beach area and had the absolute pleasure of dining at Ocean Hai. From start to finish, the entire experience was phenomenal. The service began the moment we arrived. The valet team was welcoming and professional, setting the tone for the evening. Our server Alex was outstanding, attentive, communicative, and incredibly personable without ever feeling intrusive. He made the entire experience feel relaxed and special.
What truly stood out was the extra level of hospitality from the management team. Jason, the manager, went above and beyond by arranging a handwritten anniversary letter signed by the staff along with a beautiful card wishing us a happy anniversary. That thoughtful gesture meant a lot to us and is something we’ll never forget.
As for the food…absolutely incredible. We tried a wide variety of the menu, including multiple appetizers, several entrées, and dessert. Everything was outstanding, but the sushi completely stole the show. Without question, it was the best sushi we’ve had on the island. The quality, freshness, and presentation were exceptional. The ambience of the restaurant is elegant but comfortable, making it perfect for a special occasion or even just a great night out. Ocean Hai delivered the full package: amazing food, exceptional service, and a memorable atmosphere. They have absolutely earned lifetime customers, and we will be recommending this place to everyone visiting Clearwater Beach.

This place was genuinely incredible. I took my girlfriend here for our 1 year anniversary because I saw it on maps and it sounded good, and we both love seafood.
I found the restaurant while I was still deciding on what hotel we were going to stay at and then just so happened to choose the Wyndham Grand (which was also amazing but that’s a different story). I was very pleasantly surprised to see them hand us a discount card at check in which got us 10% off on our meal here – even better!
I booked us an outdoor table at 5 pm hoping we’d have a perfect view of the sunset. And, well, the attached pictures speak for themselves! It was really gorgeous, beautiful atmosphere and our waiter was great.
The meal started with some complimentary edamame which is always a plus. My girlfriend ordered the scallops which were so good, as well as an order of sashimi which is not my personal preference but she was visibly in heaven. I ordered a spicy tuna roll and two kamikaze rolls which were specifically recommended by our waiter (although to be honest I would’ve ordered it anyway – shrimp tempura and spicy lobster, it doesn’t get better than that). No exaggeration, it was the best sushi roll I’ve ever had. If I go back, I’m just going to order three of them and call it a night.
Long story short, I was optimistic about this place but didn’t really know what to expect, and it managed to exceed all expectations. Very glad I chose this for our anniversary dinner, thanks for making it so special Ocean Hai!

We celebrated our wedding anniversary and was blown away! We sat at the Sushi Bar and James was our Sushi chef. I chose the Grouper Ceviche and hubby chose the Calamari. Both were wows! We chose to drink Sake instead of wine, Alex our waiter assisted us, after a tasting, we chose Temtaka Hawk of the Heavens and it was heavenly. James prepared an off menu Sushi which had salmon, shrimp, and other yummies, hubby had the Volcano and liked my James off menu he had one too. Both were so fabulous. Dessert….oh wow! I had the Natsu Mango Dream definitely recommend it! There is a fun reveal when presented. We could not have chosen a better restaurant to celebrate our special day!

I stayed at the wyndham grand, and the hotel itself is excellent. however, when I visited this restaurant to order takeout food, I was honestly shocked and confused. It felt like I had been scammed. I ordered sushi and a hot dog and paid $100. I can confidently say this was the worst sushi I have ever had in my life. I swear, I have never eaten sushi this bad anywhere before.
I still can’t understand how such low-quality food can exist in a restaurant located in such an amazing hotel. the restaurant looks very upscale and respectable, and the service was good. but based solely on the food quality and the price, this is a clear 1-star experience. I can’t bring myself to rate it higher, even for the service, although it wasn’t bad.

We celebrated our anniversary here with family and friends, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The seafood was excellent—especially the tartar and sushi, which were absolute standouts. The ambiance was relaxed yet refined, and the beach views added that magical touch. We ended the meal on a sweet note with their delicious mocha. Everyone in our group had a wonderful time. I do not recommend this restaurant. We came to Ocean Hai excited because it’s heavily advertised throughout the hotel and we chose it for our last night of vacation. I ordered the Korean Sea and Steak and both the seafood and the steak were undercooked/raw with almost no flavor or sauce. The server didn’t even ask how I wanted the steak cooked and never checked on us or asked if everything was okay, even though the plate was left almost
untouched. Poor service and disappointing food for a bill close to $100. Not worth it.

You absolutely don’t get what you pay for here. The calamari had to be some of the worst calamari I’ve ever had. Chewy and darn close to uneatable. The miso soup was fine, but overpriced for what you get. I got the Korean Land & Sea, the Churrasco was not super tinder (reminded me of the cube steak my parents would feed me when I was in grade school), the octopus was terrible. Less chewy than the calamari, but just not good.
My partner said that the tuna sashimi was great, but the uni was really bad.
It’s not that one thing was bad, it was that the whole meal was consistently bad. The ONLY redeeming factor was that the service was amazing. Our server was apologetic and friendly. A+ for service, F for food.
I KNOW Clearwater can get good calamari, because the next night we went across the street to Crabby’s and had probably the second best calamari I’ve ever had.
Just because they might give you a discount if you stay in the hotel doesn’t mean you should eat here. Go anywhere else if you can!

We’ve eaten here several times during our stay at the Wyndham Grand — breakfast, lunch, and dinner and everything has been fabulous! The breakfast buffet is delicious, and the staff is so friendly and kind. We also came for a sunset dinner and loved it! Enjoyed sushi, salmon, and a bottle of wine while watching the most gorgeous sunset from the outdoor seating. Highly recommend!

Restaurant is in a great location with ocean view. We purchased their pre paid, pre set Valentine dinner for two and waited 30 minutes after being seated before a server came to our table. The restaurant was not crowded so evidently there was a management issue. When we were finally helped our server, Kaikani, did a great job. Food on the pre set was OK. Desert was on the beach at buffet tables which was not great.
