As for the food, the oysters were fresh but carried a strong fishy smell. The sushi, on the other hand, was definitely not fresh, and I honestly can’t vouch for the quality or whether it’s sushi grade. At this price point, I didn’t expect top-tier freshness, but it’s definitely a case of “eat at your own risk.” The other dishes were what you would expect from a typical Chinese restaurant—nothing more, nothing less. They did have lobster on the menu, but when I was there, only lobster claws were available.
On the positive side, the service was attentive. The server kept our table clean and the water glasses filled, which I really appreciated.
Overall, this restaurant offers convenience and decent service, but I’d be cautious with the sushi and stick to the other menu items.
Last night we went to Oceans for dinner. It was my second time going, and I was excited since it’s an all-you-can-eat buffet. Everything started off great. I had about two plates and got full, so we weren’t there very long.
Toward the end of our meal, a waitress who wasn’t even serving our table (she wasn’t bringing drinks, forks, or clearing plates) came over and asked if we were ready for the check. We said yes since we were already full. She placed the check on the table, but instead of giving us space to review it, she stood over us waiting for us to pay. That alone made us uncomfortable.
My brother placed a $100 bill on the table. Before I could even pick up the check to look over it, she quickly grabbed the money and the check immediately. That honestly shocked me because I’ve never experienced anything like that at any restaurant.
It didn’t stop there. I asked her to bring the check back so I could review it. When she returned, she kept saying “tip.” Her accent was very strong, so my family and I couldn’t fully understand her, but she kept repeating it. Then she brought a stack of receipts from other tables and pointed at the “suggested tip” section and repeatedly told us that we needed to tip her. I have never had a server demand a tip in my adult life.
To make matters worse, as we were leaving the restaurant she was complaining and bad-mouthing my family and me near the front door.
This was extremely poor customer service and very uncomfortable. I still think the food at Oceans is great and usually fresh, but unfortunately this experience with that waitress completely ruined the visit.I hate that I even have to write this review because I actually love this place. The food is always fresh and the environment is usually very clean, which is why my family and I enjoy coming here.
Clean n modern feel, great selections on food, lots of sushi n hibachi, price is sweet too.
Lots of options that are delicious for one of the affordable buffets around. Our go to is still the salt and pepper shrimp and the stir-fried mussels & clams, Cajun seafood delight.
Surprisingly, the sushi was really good this time around!
Service: 5/5 – super quick service and they’re constantly around to clean off empty plates and tables and ensure that the buffet area is clean as well.
Ambiance: 5/5 – very modern & Tokyo city pop style decorations with some japanese elements on the mascot & furniture.
Very busy on the weekends, but surprisingly clean for the amount of traffic in the store.
Value for price: 5/5 – while there was a small increase in price, it’s still extremely affordable and delicious!
