The evening started well. The bread service, cornbread and a coconut bun with guava butter, was excellent, and the shrimp and crab soup was rich and flavourful. At that point, we were excited.
Unfortunately, everything went downhill with the mains. The mahi mahi was noticeably small and very dry, served over a cabbage slaw that tasted old and lacked flavor. The “half” jerk chicken arrived chopped into pieces, seemed to be entirely thigh meat, and tasted more like mild smoky BBQ sauce than jerk, with no real heat or depth. The rice and peas were dry to the point of being almost crunchy.
At roughly $50 USD per entrée, the quality was unacceptable. Service also became noticeably less attentive once it was clear we weren’t ordering alcohol.
We left skipping dessert and genuinely disappointed. Aside from the view and the opening courses, the meal did not come close to justifying the price or the Four Seasons reputation.
Price for entrees seems a little high to me but consistent with the area.
I’m a solo traveler on thanksgiving. They have a thanksgiving buffet setup in the lobby with availability to reserve a spot at 5pm.
I try to reserve, but I can reserve/prepay for 2, but it doesn’t allow me to do so for 1.
Since I cannot reserve, it says I should be able to walk in. I go to walk in and am told I have to sit inside the restaurant (and take up a four top). I suggest that I should just sit at the hotel lobby bar with TV’s; win-win, I get to watch TV and eat by myself, they don’t have to use a four top on a single.
They say no.
It’s thanksgiving. I’m very confused why.
Never received so much push back before trying to spend money.
Yes, I am a guest of the hotel. Diamond member.
