Our first visit to Ocean 82 happened completely by chance. We were just passing by very late in the evening and asked if it was still possible to come in. We were welcomed immediately and seated at a table right by the water, with an absolutely flawless view.
We weren’t even hungry that night, so we only ordered a few appetizers — and everything was delicious. There were five of us, all with different tastes, and every single person enjoyed everything. That alone was enough to make us decide we had to come back.
We returned for dinner — and then again. Each visit confirmed our first impression: consistently excellent food, atmosphere, and service.
The service was exceptional — warm, attentive, genuinely kind. The waiters made us feel relaxed and welcome, never rushed, always smiling.
The cocktails deserve a special mention. Without exaggeration, these were the best cocktails we had on the entire island. The bartender — a lovely and talented young lady — was simply outstanding. Every drink was perfectly balanced and beautifully made. Their house-made rum with passion fruit was absolutely delicious and truly special.
The view, the atmosphere, the people — everything felt effortlessly beautiful.
At one point, we decided to try another French restaurant nearby just for comparison — and honestly, we regretted not going back to Ocean 82 instead. We ended up leaving and returning to Ocean 82 anyway, even though we weren’t hungry anymore. We ordered the tuna tartare again, because it was quite simply the best tuna tartare I have ever had anywhere.
We stayed for drinks, chatted with the staff we had already come to know and like, and simply enjoyed the moment. The Irish coffee was the best I’ve ever had in my life. Martinis, desserts, appetizers — everything was consistently excellent and enjoyed by all five of us.
This restaurant gave us moments of pure pleasure, warmth, and genuine joy.
Our two favorite restaurants on the island are La Cigale and Ocean 82 — and Ocean 82 is absolutely a place worth returning to again and again.
The food is very good, although priced on the high end. What truly elevates the experience is the service, fun, friendly, attentive, and genuinely collaborative. The staff adds to the energy of the room, making the evening feel relaxed and engaging rather than transactional. Ocean 82 is memorable for its vibe, but the food and standout service ensure it’s worth returning to.
We had an 8:00 p.m. reservation on a Sunday and arrived at 7:55. There was no hostess and no greeting, we had to hunt someone down. We waited 45 minutes for a table and were told it was due to a parade that had passed hours earlier. A restaurant calling itself fine dining should recover faster than that.
The setting is undeniably beautiful. We sat on the raised platform overlooking the beach, but the room was packed and loud, and the energy felt chaotic rather than elegant.
Food was inconsistent. Oyster ceviche was excellent. Pasta with clams and steak dish were good. My steak with foie gras was delicious until I found a blonde hair on the foie gras. My friend’s seafood bowl arrived lukewarm with frozen shrimp. When it was sent back, they removed her food, utensils, and sides without apology or replacement. It was later comped, but the moment was already lost.
Service felt irritated rather than gracious. A waitress laughed when my husband struggled to pronounce a wine. No one explained the wine list or made suggestions. Staff rotated through our table, but no one took responsibility for the experience. When concerns were raised at payment, the response was defensive.
Ocean 82 is not failing because of its food—it is failing because it does not understand hospitality. Beautiful views and good dishes mean little when guests feel ignored, rushed, or ridiculed. Fine dining is not foie gras or oceanfront tables; it is how carefully a restaurant treats the people who trust it with their evening.
He ordered the scallops, I had the seafood pot, and we split the French onion soup. Every single thing was incredible, but that soup was hands down the best French onion soup I’ve ever had. The seafood pot had the most flavorful broth I’ve ever tasted, and the seafood itself was unbelievably fresh.
On top of the food, the views are stunning. You’re looking right out over the beach and ocean, which makes the whole experience feel elevated and relaxed at the same time. The atmosphere was beautiful, and the service was just as good as the food.
If you’re anywhere near there and love fresh seafood and a great dining experience, this place is absolutely worth it. Would go back without hesitation.
Our food was amazing. Escargot perfectly cooked. My wife had a lobster bisque that you would swear was stirred by the lobster himself it was so fresh and tasty. I had a gaspacho that was a perfect blend of salty, spicy and so fresh. My main was a surf and turf with beef tenderloin that you just had to look sternly at to cut it, it was so tender. Desset, wine, coffee, all amazing. Our waiter, Jan and his team made it a truly special night.
Ocean 82 in Grand Case offers a beautiful ocean view and a pleasant setting, which was definitely the highlight of our visit. The atmosphere is lovely, especially if you’re seated near the water.
However, the food was average and did not quite justify the high prices. While everything was fine, nothing really stood out in terms of flavor or presentation.
We were also celebrating a birthday and had mentioned it in advance, but unfortunately it was completely overlooked, which was disappointing for a restaurant at this level. Overall, a nice location, but the experience did not fully live up to expectations.
