Reviews
Staying next door to this pub, and we decided to grab some dinner here tonight, as it was recommended by the staff at the Surrey motel.
The pub is a bit drab, but has a decent charm to it, there were certainly lots of people here tonight, several large parties as well as smaller groups, so there is no shortage of customers.
The staff was friendly and accommodating, and without hesitation did a couple of omissions and changes to our food choices. The food arrived rather quickly, hot and nicely presented.
The spicy garlic wings were surprisingly “hot”, but oh so good. The Texas tenderloin sandwich was perfectly cooked, crispy on outside yet moist on inside. The chicken-finger salad, not only looked great, it was delicious .The ceasar was blah, the only mediocre item that we ordered.
The place is a bit noisy, but that means that all the people there were enjoying themselves.
We’ll definitely be back, on our next return visit to Ashland.
The food itself though, was even more disappointing. The philly cheesesteak was lackluster at best. The steak had very little flavor. It didn’t seem like it was seasoned at all.
There was a distinct lack of cheese. I’m used to philly cheesesteaks being melted cheesy gloriousness. There was hardly any cheese on this at all. The one thing about the sammich that was a positive was the bread. It was toasted nicely.
Fries were good, but I ordered loaded and got regular. So even though they were good, they weren’t correct.
All in all, real disappointing experience. Can’t see any reason to go back.
