Pulled into the drive thru at 8:54 after seeing the “open” sign on and people inside. Was greeted at the drive thru with “we literally close in 5 minutes, sorry” excuse me? I wanted a small kids scoop. I could have paid and left by 8:58. Extremely rude to turn down customers. Open till 9 means open till 9. I haven’t even turned down customers at my sit down restaurant job minutes before kitchen closing.

I recently visited the Oberweis ice cream shop on Randall Road in Elgin and was really disappointed with the service. When I walked in, I stood in front of the register waiting to place my order, but none of the employees acknowledged me or offered to help. I waited patiently, but it wasn’t until I finally raised my voice and asked if anyone was working that someone came over.
I understand that places can get busy, but basic customer service—like a simple “we’ll be right with you”—goes a long way. The ice cream itself was fine, but the lack of attention and hospitality made the visit feel frustrating. I hope management addresses this so future customers feel more welcome.

Great customer service and amazing milkshakes too! Nate provided the best customer service I’ve ever experienced! He went above and beyond for my family by offering to split one of the milkshakes between two cups for my little ones and even offered sprinkles. He made me and my family feel like we mattered throughout the entire process. He was kind, professional, precise when obtaining our order and ever so patient. The milkshakes ordered were phenomenal to top off our entire awesome experience. I highly recommend this Oberweis.

I want to give a shout out to Lisa who helped have everything ready to go for a birthday celebration for my manager. She was super helpful in accommodating my request (even as the only employee working at that time) and what I thought would take forever to get everything together she had everything prepared before I walked into the door and all I had to do was pay. Not only that but she did it all with a smile and as silly as it sounds that level of service is rare these days. Thank you Lisa!!!!
