We stopped for breakfast on a Sunday morning and left feeling better than when we came in, ready to take on the day. The building is small and the door a little sloped, not wheelchair accessible (requiring a few steps), but the atmosphere was festive and extremely welcoming. The food didn’t knock our socks off, but we did enjoy what we had and only tried a couple items. We definitely intend to come back for more.
As we were leaving, a couple was bringing in bags of clothing and said that the owner distributes clothes for the homeless. As strange as it may be to say it, that remark felt perfectly natural based on our experience eating here.

Very cute cafe. The ambiance was very colorful and traditional for a Mexican cafe.
Although small, they had a full house and the service was great. We came in with a party of six. The prices are very affordable for the portions they serve.
The food was very tasty and the menudo was on point! It wasn’t very spicy or red like I would like but the flavors were still there.
The chilaquiles are not what you expect if you’re looking for traditional ones but they didn’t taste bad so we ate them.

Puffy taco, cheese enchilada, and chicken tamale, with rice and beans. Takes a while because they cook it for you and it comes out hot! So delicious and inexpensive! A hidden gem! Get off the riverwalk and eat a yummy authentic Mexican meal.

I’m staying next to the convention center and I’m really glad I tried to find a good Mexican place away from the river walk. Way cheaper and better tasting than the Mexican by the river. Got the enchilada plate and a carne asada taco. Both were phenomenal. The enchilada sauce was something else. I’m here for a few more days and I’ll be coming back here for lunch daily.

This little piece of heaven has always been a favorite of mine thanks to my sister! I’ve taken my wife to experience the delicious food and service. The food is outstanding! I recommend enjoying all they have to offer! The sweet tea is a must! Great hideaway that offers a big punch! Family owned and ran, which will better your experience here! Lots of parking but not as many tables inside. If it’s busy… You’ll understand why so many come to enjoy! Now… who’s hungry?

This was a nice little restaurant, the staff is very welcoming. We loved the food and homemade tortillas. The decorations were nice. I would definitely recommend this place.

The deluxe nachos are delicious the coffee was just a little too light for my taste but that’s a taste thing and it was still very much drinkable, much better than the sludge I get at a lot of chain places! My wife loved her breakfast (soft) tacos too. We left full and happy. Server was helpful and polite we’ll try to be back at least one more time, we’re only visiting SA, but it’s places like this that are going to leave us missing Texas!

“Amarillo by morning”. . . a perfect song for completing a breakfast taco run to this canary yellow painted restaurant. I would also offer “Midnight at the Oasis” as another attribute capturing song title, but this is a typical taqueria with a witching hour of 2 pm.
Parking is a Rubick’s Cube activity finding that three sides of the property are actually numbered slots for public pay parking. After a couple of circumnavigations and u-turns the final solution came via one of five or so spots parking on the street in front of the restaurant. How are your parallel parking skills?
Shut the front door, the back door and the shutters! The menu prices read like what you get with a 50% discount from Mexican food restaurants with a more northerly latitude.
Mostly some good basic Tex-mex. Chip service was a flimsy, 5 and 10 cent store (what’s that!), dayglo green, plastic bowl of a few, almost fresh chips. The 2 enchi 2 puffy, guac, rice / beans plate broke the bank at $8. The puffies were about 5 psi low, but I will definitely not bother checking for a leak at that price.
Not the same owner as the other Oasis on Main street. As many “decamesas” (what we call dives and cafes having 10 tables or less) as we have been to it seems there is always one more.
