Traveling from Madison to Milwaukee and in need of a quick dinner before reaching our destination. Stopped off at Oakstone Recreational which is not too far off the highway. Oakstone recreational is a multi-use space, primarily for indoor/outdoor volleyball but noticed various signs for live music and concerts. The bar area is spacious and dining seating is ample. Although crowded (a good sign), we were seated promptly and served drinks and starters right away. The fried pickles were crispy and seasoned well. Portions were appropriate for 2-3 people. The Brisket sandwich was full of flavor and tots were crunchy and seasoned well. The 304 burger was juicy and totally satisfying. The coleslaw was creamy and nice. Oakstone Recreational has a lively vibe. All the staff was friendly, attentive, and helpful. Overall, this is a definite stop in for food when traveling to and from Madison to Milwaukee. Lucky for the locals to have such a great activities venue, sports bar, restaurant, and live music hub all in one. Wish we lived closer!

As someone who is normally NOT a fan of salmon, do yourself a favor & order ANY of their salmon dishes & you can thank me later! Also, their carrot cake is the BEST CARROT CAKE ON PLANET EARTH! Lastly, if you’re a volleyball fan, this is THE volleyball bar in the Madison area! The food, the drinks & the service are all fantastic! We LOVE this place! ❤️

Seems like it would be a lovely place in the evenings and on weekends. Food was very, very good. Salmon cooked very well. Wings were perfectly sized and seasoned. Only thing we would change would be flavor options for seasoning on the chicken breast for the Caesar salad since this one was not to our liking.

This our second time coming here. First time was for lunch and now for dinner. The food and drinks were great, I appreciate the large amount of options. As far as the service goes, I thought the first time might have been a fluke so we came for dinner tonight, but there was no improvement. Honestly, if I could give the service less than one star I would. We had to ask for menus, then ask if we could order, and go find our own napkins. Not once were we asked how everything was. Mind you, neither time was it very busy. We’ve been done eating and waiting over ten minutes to close our bill and get a box for our food as I’m writing this review. I feel like if you’re not a “regular” you gain zero attention.

Oakstone Has great food! I recently visited there for lunch in the month of February 2026. The staff is friendly. The food is a scratch kitchen made fresh daily. There’s a wonderful assortment of sandwiches and entrées to choose from. I would regard this as one of the top places to eat in cottage Grove if you’re looking for a restaurant in cottage Grove, this is a great spot in winter or summer. They have a large recreational facility with volleyball courts, and basketball courts as well as trivia a variety of tap years and frequently have live music. this is a family friendly environment. I’d highly recommend this restaurant.

This place is a hidden gem! Tucked back on this dead end road, it’s a very unique location. I had the bourbon chicken sandwich and it was phenomenal. My wife got the chicken tenders & she said they were thinly breaded and very tasty. Our server was amazing as well. We will be coming back her for sure.

Have come for brunch on a Sunday three times now and the experience has been the same. Very slow service especially when ordering alcohol while not sitting at the bar. It took 35 minutes to get our first drinks which were all drinks listed on their brunch menu.
It took an entire hour for our food order to be placed and get to us. Prices are great, employees are friendly, but service is very slow.

So you will find this place in what feels like an odd place. We were in an industrial type area and thought maybe we took a wrong turn. Nope there it was. Super cute driving. Patio outside with a stage area. Then pull in to find volleyball courts on the other side…outside. Park and go in and it has a fun vibe right away. We got there shortly after they opened so we were the only ones there. Big indoor volleyball area. Games to play. Food was excellent. So many things I wanted to try on the menu. Definitely get the curds and you have to get the cookie dough for dessert! Family friendly. Staff was great. If we are in the area we will be back for sure but we may just make a drive down and spend the day in Madison to get to go again too. Maybe catch a band. Great place!
