Glad I didn’t read reviews of this place before we dined here, otherwise we might have skipped it. I’m not sure whether our experience was an anomaly, all the same we had a lovely experience at Oak St Pub!
It was a warm, sunny day when we dined here and we wanted to find a place to eat where I could bring my dog so she wasn’t sitting in a hot car. Oak St Pub has a big outdoor seating area with lots of shaded and sunny seating options, and lots of room to tie up a dog. We both ordered fish tacos and had a very pleasant interaction with one of the servers while we waited for our meals. The food arrived in a timely manner, and the server who brought it out to us was incredibly friendly and helpful- letting us know how the fresh lime served alongside our tacos helped to improve the sauce. Fish tacos can be really hit and miss, especially at pubs where I’ve often felt greatly overcharged and very underwhelmed by the food. This was not the case at Oak St Pub; the fish was warm and crispy and very flavorful. We ate all our tacos quickly and in silence- it was a great meal after a long hike.

Pro-tip (don’t not touch anything beyond the bar ) the bartender will make to put you in your place! But she’s lovely!

Came in for a little night cap, they had a great late night menu, we tried the cheese curds and they were great. Got a mixed drink for myself and a beer for my wife. Super chill place.

Quaint old world style public house with some swanky outdoor seating as well. Love the belly up bar, but the most stand out thing about this place is the menu. Been several times and have yet to pick something from their food choices that I didn’t devour. Full bar and decent beer selection. A lot more options in their fridge than on tap, though.

Decent outdoor ambience but maybe the worst fish tacos I’ve ever had? Menu items are tacked up on the wall without prices, so I paid $13 for overcooked fish tacos in flour tortillas with wayyyy too much “spicy house sauce” that tasted a whole lot like Italian dressing with a kick. Was hungry so I ate them but the whole thing was overpowering. Order something else.
Asked the bartender about what one of the beers was like and he said “it’s an IPA,” which is clearly stated on the wall. I gave him a blank look and he elaborated slightly but come on.

I don’t like to give bad reviews but unfortunately I have to do it here. Food was 3.5 stars, service was 0 stars. Combined a generous 2 stars. Regarding service: Everyone can have a bad day and there is no question that they were at least 1 if not 2 people short this day. But if every question you have is met with a sigh and an annoyed face. And if even in response to “Thank you so much” you get a “mhm” then I can’t give you more than 0 stars. Food was okay but not really warm. The atmosphere is cool. Being able to sit outside is always a plus.

Dropping down from a nice day cruise leaving Portland we were long over due for some nourishment both skipping breakfast and lunch. After such a beautiful drive I searched for a restaurant that served great fish and chips. I took a wild stab and chose Oak Street Pub.
The place was empty for an early Saturday night which right up front made things questionable but we were starving. The restaurant had curb appeal, leaning towards an old fashioned, Scottish pub style. Plenty of outdoor seating and very dog friendly. The bartender looked like he did not want to be there, putting out as least effort as possible and although not very sociable when taking our order, our food arrived fairly quickly.
Food was delicious and just what we were looking for. The amount of food, 2-piece w/ fries was the perfect amount, although a really hungry man might want to lean towards a 3 piece. We were both happy with our 2-piece.
Place was very comfortable and a perfect choice for fish and chips after a beautiful drive. If you’re looking for a good fish and chips dinner the Oak Street Pub will deliver.

I actually haven’t a clue if they have good food. But this was the first bar I ever went to in Hood River (not going to EVEN say how long ago).
For a while I was having an affair with Hood River. I would escape there as often as I could (we eventually broke it off), and to this day it’s still the first place I go!

We came here during my bachelorette party weekend. We absolutely loved the service, food and drinks. She even made an amazing mocktail for my pregnant friend. What made this experience top notch was I left my backpack there, which only had some cash in it. I realized a lost in late the next day and figured there was no hope. A few days later the bartender found my friend on Facebook and asked for a way to send the money back to me! We stop in hood river all the time for food and drinks after hikes and I will forever be stopping here and telling all my friends about it. Thank you again!
