Came to Oak & Reed today Sunday 11/30/25 to celebrate my wife’s birthday and ordered 2 appetizers and 2 main dishes. starting with the appetizers we had the Korean broccoli which was very good, I believe it’s one of the most requested dish by diners. The other appetizer was the crab cakes, which if you see the pictures is made up of carb cake in the center and flour and cornmeal on the outer sides. Yes it tasted just like it sounds cornmeal with carb meat in the center. I would not recommend this appetizer. I’ve had better ones at a true sea food restaurant. The other main dishes were the shank of lamb which my wife found it was under seasoned. Saffron rice was not found in the dish. but must say the meat was very tender….off the bone tender. The other dish we ordered was the fried chicken which was over cooked almost burned. compare the pictures of this dish with other in the reviews. even though the presentation had much to be desired on this dish the chicken was good…….. not to write home about good….I mean when compared to Halal fried chicken from other chicken places hear in Middletown. In summary, we are going to give this place a rest for now. There are to may options to choose from.

Oak & Reed is truly one of Middletown’s finest dining gems. This place borders on fine dining without the pretentious prices or attitude. It’s no surprise that it’s one of the most sought-after spots in the area — the food, the presentation, the service, everything is done with real care.

Their brunch menu is absolutely outstanding: delicious, unique, and thoughtfully crafted. Every dish feels special, and the flavors stand out in a way you don’t find just anywhere.

But what really sets Oak & Reed apart are the prices. For the quality, the creativity, and the portion sizes you get, the value is unbelievable. Even with drinks included, the total for two people feels more than fair — it feels like a deal.

Everything is served beautifully, everything tastes amazing, and everything makes you want to come back. I honestly can’t rave about this place enough. Oak & Reed is a must-visit.

We have been trying to go here for a while and each time it was a private event. Finally on Valentine’s Day we got in on a limb sat at the bar and it was better than I ever expected. From the moment we sat down to the moment we left the service was amazing. The food was spectacular and so were the drinks. We cant wait to go back.

We hosted my daughter’s bridal shower at Oak & Reed and I couldn’t be happier with the entire experience. From the very first conversation, Laura was kind, accommodating, and attentive to every detail I had in mind.

On the day of the event, the staff gave us a bit of extra time to set up and were incredibly helpful — constantly checking in to see how they could assist. During the shower, the service was excellent, the food and the drinks were absolutely delicious (10/10!), and the atmosphere was just perfect for our wildflower theme.

A special shoutout to Isabella,, our server, who went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly. Truly a wonderful place with a beautiful vibe. Thank you, Oaken Reed, for making this day so special!

Tried the winter squash (starter), buttermilk fried chicken and the salmon. Everything was on point, ESPECIALLY the squash which is a MUST try, if you’re in the area.
The blueberry mocktail is also exquisite.

Special shout-out to the super friendly staff.

We’re glad we gave this place a shot because we weren’t sure at first. We enjoyed everything we ordered. The corn bread was maybe a little dry but the butter for it makes up for that. Totally worth it. The Korean Broccoli was so good. Probably my favorite! I had the fried chicken, mashed potato and collard greens with the syrup. The chicken and mashed potatoes were yummy, I’d skip the greens next time. Loved the syrup. My husband’s vegetable lo mein was really good! Be prepared for a small lunch menu but I’m sure everyone can find something they like. Would definitely like to try other things. Definitely nice inside. Service was very friendly .

I had the pleasure of working with Laura to plan my baby shower here at her restaurant. She made everything so super easy and accommodating. The place is beautiful, the staff is amazing. It was all around just perfect. Laura is so sweet and you can see that she takes pride in what she does along with taking care of her employees. My guests couldn’t stop talking about how good the food was and how cute everything came out. We chose to do a lunch buffet style so that everyone could try all the great dishes they have to offer. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to throw a party. Thank you so much for making my baby shower so so special! We will definitely make a stop in to see you with our new baby.

We arrived at Oak and Reed for our dinner reservation and initially had to wait a bit for our table. However, Danny the host immediately stepped in, explained the situation, and went above and beyond to make things right. His professionalism and genuine care set the tone for the rest of the evening.

The food was outstanding. We highly recommend the cornbread, the Korean fried broccoli, and the grilled skirt steak. Where each dish was flavorful, well-prepared, and memorable in its own way. It’s clear that the team at Oak and Reed takes real pride in both their service and their menu, ensuring every guest feels valued and satisfied.

This spot truly feels like a hidden gem, and we’ll definitely be returning to try more of the menu. A great dining experience all around.

We were staying in Monticello and decided to check out Oak and Reed for dinner.

It’s located in a cute and charming little town.

The interior is spacious and inviting.

The starter bread is so good and fresh baked! We ordered the New England Fish Chowder and Korean Fried Broccoli as appetizers and the Buttermilk Fried Chicken. Everything was so good! I especially loved the New England Fish Chowder and Buttermilk Fried Chicken. The Buttermilk Fried Chicken portion is huge. Can easily be shared!

They don’t serve hard liquor but I tried one of their fermented agave cocktails and it was yummy.

Our server was so sweet and attentive.

Definitely recommend visiting.

The Korean fried broccoli was one of the best appetizers I’ve ever had in my life. Loved every bite. The short rib and eggs was also amazing, very good serving size. The chicken and waffles were the only disappointment. Didn’t really care for the waffle and the fried chicken was good but the ends were pretty dry, I think it was fried just a bit too long. Overall a fantastic lunch and our server was great, attentive but not all over you the whole meal. Also had the mango Margherita which was awesome.
