Took my wife of 11 years and my Valentine’s Day of 16 years there to celebrate for Valentine’s Day. We just moved here last summer, so didn’t really know what to expect. It was a last-minute reservation, but I know from reading the reviews that they were known for their view so I thought at a minimum well at least have something good to look at.
When we arrive, we were a little earlier. Our plan was to hang out at the bar and have a few drinks. They accommodated us quickly and actually gave us our table early.
Our server was kind and thoughtful gave great recommendations. My wife, he had the lobster bisque soup as a starter and I had the cheddar rice ball beef thing lol
Hers was way better than mine, but mine wasn’t bad at all just if I could go back in time I would definitely get the soup 10 out of 10.
For our main courses, she had the shrimp gnocchi and I had the Valentine’s Day special.
Steak was good slightly overcooked I ordered it medium rare. I didn’t think the sauce added much to it. The fries were normal fries. My wife gnocchi had a really good creamy garlic sauce, but she wasn’t wild about the fact that the shrimp still had the tails on them normally in a dish like that they’re served without the tail on.
Overall, we had a good experience. Our bar wasn’t set too. High service was good. I would definitely come back and eat there again if I’m in the area.

Dinner for 2. We had 2 craft beers and a glass of wine. Started with the calamari. It was very good. Not the typical Italian spice marina style, but lemon pepper. Nice and light.
2 entrees blackened Mahi and the miso glazed grouper. Both were hot and delicious. Food here was excellent. TJ was a great server, but not over bearing, gave us time but was attentive. He spaced out our app and main meal so we felt comfortable. Manager checked on us and made sure our needs were being met.
This is a higher end restaurant. Very adult. Be prepared to pay 30-50 for a dinner entree. Portions were spot on.
Now the only suggestion I would have it the decor or ambience. Everything was cold grey floors, wall, pictures. Lighting was off. We sat under a bright light bulb at the bottom of the stairs. Not romantic for 2 adults. Needs some southern charm – some warmth. Something to match the decor with the delicious food.

Let me tell you something!!! Everything absolutely everything was amazing!!! The calamari was seasoned perfectly and fried to perfection. The hush puppies are homemade. The Korean short ribs are out of this world. They are tender and sauced just right. The shrimp and grits have a great balance of Cajun spices and cheesy grits along with the salty ham. And the deconstructed s’mores OMG!!! Just try it and see. The atmosphere is amazing. Our server Skyla was so attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. She made our dinner so special. Oak and Palm is a gem. If you are in Sunset Beach, do yourself a favor and stop by!!!

This place is AMAZING. My husband and I went there for my birthday dinner and lunch the next day. The apple and arugula salad is the best salad I’ve had in my entire life. The taste is phenomenal. The seared scallops were mouth-watering. My husband’s burger looked juicy and delicious with melted cheese and a bacon jelly. The smores dessert was great too. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere of the place was wonderful especially with the views of the water. They have a great outside dining area as well. I 100% recommend if your near the Sunset Beach or Ocean Isle area. I’m pretty sure I’d travel even further for this food.

My wife and I had dinner here with high expectations based on other recent reviews, but not quite so high marks/enjoyment for us. We were seated upstairs in a large dining area, which had nice window views. However, the walls were stark and plain and the room was very noisy throughout our dinner, at about 1/2 to 2/3 full. (If ceiling tiles were to reduce noise, they didn’t help much).
Beyond the atmosphere, our waitress Skyla was very good, as was our meal service througout our dinner. We ordered a glass of Riesling and a Manhattan, with Basil Hayden. My Manhattan had a bit too much sweet vermouth. Our appetizer was the Calamari, with asparagus and piennoli cherry tomatoes, which was very good. We ordered the Blackened Mahi over aspargus and mashed potatoes, and their Miss Calabash that included fried oysters, shrimp, and flounder, cole sole and hush puppies. The expression, less is sometimes better, subjectively applies here for their plating. The Mahi steak was nicely cooked and tasted great. Mashed potatoes/aspargus were okay, but too much mashed potatoes plated. My wife’s plate had too much food on it, but she enjoyed the fried flounder, and hush puppies, the fried shrimp being okay. She disliked the taste of the “orange” coleslaw, and felt the oysters were over battered. As she didn’t taste the oysters, she didn’t eat them. She informed the manager, who was apologetic, and was very nice in comping her meal.
With that, we thought okay maybe we’ll come back…but when our bill arrived, I gasped seeing they charged me $24 for my Mahattan, split $20 for the Basil Hayden and a surcharge of $4 for “As Mahattan”, what!!! The wine at $11 was fine. For anyone who drinks mid-tier Basil Hayden straight/over ice, it’s never close to $20, let alone $24 for a Manhattan, ridiculous. So, beware of straight liquor prices, and Manhattans and Old Fashions (maybe others?) add $4 more to “Make”. I unfortunately asked to speak to the manager again about my drink price. She acknowledged it, and did comp me for it and our overall meal experience. We paid the bill and left disappointed with this venue.

Enjoyed a very nice dinner at Oak & Palm. Our server Kim was the best! She shared her favorites and also told us about the sister restaurants. We had Coconut Shrimp that were really good, Shrimp & Grits, Apple & Arugula Salad and the Deconstructed S’more dessert that was light and very good as well. Definitely will return!

Food was excellent. We had coconut shrimp, calamari, rigatoni and a burger at our table. Portions are plentiful. This was our second time there. Service was top notch – Kammy was attentive and friendly. All employees we interacted with were great. Can’t beat the view!

My wife & I ate here couple days ago for first time. My wife had clam chowder and blackened grouper. Chowder had very good flavor but the cream had broken so wasn’t as smooth as it could’ve been. Grouper was excellent. I started with Swing Bridge Oysters which were hard to find/taste the oyster, thus was okay and needs to be served with a spoon. My main course was Sunset Style Grouper which had the cheesiest loose grits I’ve ever had. Maybe little less cheese or a cake would be better, but blackened grouper was again excellent. Service was outstanding and we’ll be back.

My husband & I have eagerly awaited the refurbishment of this restaurant for some time. The location offers beautiful views of the waterway & marsh within close proximity to our vacation home. During our recent two week visit to Sunset Beach we dined there three times, celebrating two birthdays in our party during the first dinner, lunch a couple of days later, then dinner again the following week. Skyla provided outstanding customer service on two occasions, as did Chloe during our lunch visit. As a matter of fact all staff from the hostess & bartender to the manager were very welcoming & attentive. During these visits we enjoyed a wide variety of items on the menu all being deliciously prepared, especially the Coconut Shrimp, Carolina Treet BBQ Wings, Korean Ribs & Seared Scallops. One suggestion pertaining to the Sunset Grouper is to prepare it with less butter or oil. We ordered the fish lightly blackened & the dish was good, but extremely rich & heavy. We too were perplexed by the $4.00 bar tab additional charge on specialty cocktails during our first dinner & should have inquired why. Would appreciate an explanation. Otherwise, our visits were most enjoyable & we’ll certainly be back during our frequent visits to this beautiful coast.
Wishing you great success,
DC

Stumbled upon this spot leaving sunset beach after an amazing sunset. The views were still amazing from the restaurant. I would have more photos of our other dishes and drinks, but we ate before the camera had a chance.
Make sure you save room for dessert.
Also Sue was amazing, after informing her that we were pescatarian, she made some great suggestions with chef’s recommendations.
