Wonderfully delicious food and cocktails. We will definitely be back soon and often. The host, perhaps the owner or manager, was a delight and obviously putting everything he had into making sure each patron was having a good experience, even on a busy Friday evening. His shoes were quite spectacular. I didn’t catch the bartender’s name, but she was friendly, pleasant, and made delicious cocktails. Veronica, who waited on us during our experience was warm and attentive but never over bearing. We had the Caesar salad and the Handmade Frattura. The salad was a good salad but the croutons were seriously the best I’ve ever tasted. The Frattura was incredible. The pasta was incredible. The flavors were so well paired. Each ingredient tasted fresh and cooked well. I hope we can go again soon to try some of the other menu items. Will say, it was noisy during the Friday dinner rush, as one would expect. The atmosphere is more friends and family having a good time and less of a quiet date night kind of setting. We arrived without reservations and were sat within 15 minutes. The location isn’t hidden, but doesn’t necessarily jump out at you, so keep your eyes peeled when arriving.

The calamari is unbelievable! The service was great! You have to try one of the bloody Mary martinis. They’re out of this world! We ordered the eggplant parmesan in the veal. It was out of this world! Stop on by at this locally owned and operated restaurant and enjoy your favorite Italian dishes! It is hard to see from the street. Once you come inside the atmosphere it’s absolutely amazing!

I’m not surprised. The food was average. A lot better pizza places around. The atmosphere was awful. It was very cold (not talking about the temperature). It felt like you were in a coffin. Couldn’t see out because of the window treatment and very loud. Hopefully something else will move soon.

Pretentious, over-priced food with a taste of Italy.
When I go for Italian (I am of Italian descent), I want hot, yummy, filling comfort food. This place has those high priced uppity type menu items. The pizza was dry. The Caesar salad was really good.
The server was very attentive almost to the point of annoying.

We have been to the original Oak Oven in Harahan a number of times, and we have always loved the food. This is the first time we have been to this new location, and it is every bit as good as the original. At lunch today we shared the parmigiano salad and an order of the handmade pappardelle. These are dishes we have grown to love so we thought they would offer a good comparison. My wife cannot visit Oak Oven without having the parmigiano salad; sometimes she even shares some with me. The pappardelle is one of our favorite pasta dishes at Oak Oven. Both were outstanding. What I really appreciate about these and other of Oak Oven’s original creations is that the dressings and sauces are light and subtle while still being very flavorful. They always enhance the flavor of ingredients like the shrimp in the pappardelle without overwhelming them.
Our service today was great. Even though this is a second location of an established restaurant, it is still a really new establishment with a number of new staff so there may be occasional glitches as the team gels. Because I had read some negative comments in earlier reviews I was paying special attention to the wait staff. What I observed were servers moving briskly to attend to their tables. Our server was excellent, and our food was delicious and came out quickly.
I encourage anyone who enjoys good food to try Oak Oven, and not just the pizzas. Yes, their pizzas are delicious, but this is so much more than a pizza place. Their menu includes a number of wonderful original dishes that may not be Italian classics, but they taste like they should be!

Upon entering this former Hardee’s, I was asked if I had a reservation. This was the first, but not last sign that this place was perhaps a bit too fancy for my taste. The inside is beautiful and tasteful, the service rivals most fine dining places, but come on, this is a pizza place. I felt underdressed eating my $13 pizza. That is, when it finally arrived. The pleasant waiter asked if we wanted to get a salad or soup while we waited for the pizza, because it might take a while considering the oak oven only holds two pizzas at a time. The pizza was eventually delicious, but why on earth would you open a restaurant called Oak Oven if said oak oven can only fit two pizzas at a time? I way prefer the atmosphere at Duman, and will go there next time for a more relaxed experience and in my opinion, more crispy and interesting pizzas.

This place has authentic food. The handmade Fettuccini Alfredo is absolutely to die for. We will most definitely be returning. (P.S. While it is a bit pricey, you get what you pay for so to speak, so it’s totally worth it in my opinion!)
