previous post: i got the leg platter with cheese spaghetti. cheese spaghetti was good. the legs were great!! the carolina sauce was so good i saved one and took it back home. the half unsweetened and half sweet tea wasnt that great. however the cornbread was out of this world amazing. i reiterate that the corn bread is probably the best i have ever had. a must try place if you are in the area.
update: got the saint louis slab ribs platter. the meat does not fall right off the bone and the meat is fairly tough. due to this reason even if i enjoyed their chicken legs before i have to deduct two stars. i went to a bbq place in marion a week prior and that place made me think the quality here would be better because oak hill bbq is actually picked as top 10 best bbq places in ohio according to a website. the ribs werent great i actually thought they were disappointing.

I used to come here ~6-7 years ago then stopped when they closed at the start of covid. First time coming back since they’ve reopened and I’m pretty disappointed. Back when Fat Man owned the place, it was arguably some of the best BBQ in the state, now the sauces aren’t homemade and taste like generic restaurant sauces, the meat (beef brisket at least) is average at best and the sweet tea might have a spritz of tea in it. Collard greens are pretty good though (bit of a kick to em too)
All in all its not bad, but with not much else being around and it being a decent distance from Columbus/Westerville area, I don’t think I’ll be back.
I’m glad they reopened though so I could at least get a little bit of that of flavor and style again. Best of luck to the new owners!

As a Texan, I’m always happy to find great barbecue in Ohio. Great atmosphere, friendly staff.
The beef brisket was wonderfully smoked and fall apart tender as it should be. Pairs great with the sweet gold sauce and the Carolina Hot (vinegar based)

Great BBQ. Brisket sandwich was high quality, very tender. Small comfortable indoor outdoor setting. Not crazy about the sweet tea. Great fries.

Geeezzz!!! Where to start? You start with the Fat Man himself, super personality. He is what all owners of businesses wish they could be. Proud of his product and obviously has the goods to back it up. Had the FatMan Special, chicken, pulled pork and brisket. Everything was moist and tasty. Brisket was off the chart for me. The couple next to me were a little shocked. No fork needed when eating good barbecue, it’s get down and dirty with your hands. No sauce for me, the purest experience is just the meat. You also get cheesy spaghetti, dirty beans, greens which were delicious, fried cabbage, Cole slaw, the one thing I didn’t like was the marinated mix vegetables even though I ate them, just not my thing. Also you get a nice piece of cornbread. Wash it down with some sweet tea. All for less than 20 bucks. Great deal and great place. Go see the FatMan and tell him MRBARBQ1 sent you.

The owner, fat man, was fantastic. The meat was tender and full of flavor. The corn bread was moist and tasty. All of the sides were great. I have gone to several bbq places around central Ohio and this is by far the best. If you like BBQ, you need to stop in!

This place is good and the prices are fair. Everything was a bit salt but it still tasted great. The staff is very accommodating as well.
