So, I decided to walk down Pioneer and experience Lava Louie’s Pizza.
The inside was worn, but clean. It was quiet inside, probably because other than me there were only two customers.
I decided to sit at the bar and order my food from the bartender. After looking at the menu I decided to order the Ring of Fire pizza.
I enjoy spicy food and was prepared to be disappointed at the spice level even though the ingredients are pepperoni, sausage, jalapeno, and habanero!
I am very pleased to say that not only was I NOT disappointed at the spice level, but the pizza was nicely cooked and tasted great!
I was also pleased that the background music all seemed to be classic rock from the 70’s and 80’s, my favorite genre of music!!
I had a very enjoyable lunch at Lava Louie’s
5 Star Drinks!! – Bartender Chris makes em right!
A proper Old Fashioned, it’s been so long.
Their Raspberry Kiss is an incredible take on traditional margaritas!
Seafood Fettuccine, Mac & Cheese Stuffed Burger, Tuna Melt, Garlic Knots and Fried Elote Corn Bites were fantastic.
This place takes pride in what it serves.
Food: we ordered a bleu cheese burger and a mushroom Swiss burger both with fries. The burgers were pretty good, but would ask to go easy on the mayo next time. Fries were cooked perfectly and delicious!
Price: ~$18-$22 for each burger and house fries; the up charge for specialty fries was $4.50. I also saw that a calzone was $26 on the menu…whyyy? Overall WAY overpriced.
Atmosphere: There is a bit of an identity crisis here with cafe in the name, but seeming more like a bar and grill. The layout is a split level with one side having a bar and pool playing area and the other booths, tables, and a projector for watching sports. Not sure this place is a family friendly cafe…
Cleanliness: Booth and table we sat at was clean. No bad odors.
Waitstaff: Super inviting and friendly! Food wait time was reasonable.
Overall: we probably won’t be returning due to the high prices. I could justify spending that much if the whole dining experience from walking into the establishment, layout, decor, food, and service made sense and knocked my socks off, but it didn’t. The identity crisis was weird. I know small businesses are trying to survive the crippling effects of the pandemic, but the brand was not cohesive..
The first impression of the interior was dated and the smell of dirty mop water. We braved through this and ventured onward….
We were greeted and seated quickly and then the menu’s arrived. Nice layout and a full with a variety of choices but the pricing immediately smacked us in the face, hard! We pressed ahead fully committed to the cause at this point.
Ok so we thought we would order “safe” food. You know the type of typical Americanish cooking where it is hard to mess up…right? Well……
At $12.99 for six (6) previously frozen mozzarella sticks, $18.99 for a bacon cheeseburger that was, putting this in a nice way, pathetic and delivered with the wrong toppings and finally $21 for cold Chicken Alfredo. Yes cold and tasteless. So much for safe. Ok..ok the fries were decent and the fountain Coke/Sprite were ok as well.
All in all my wife and I will not be returning to this place.
SUPER AWESOME STAFF! The younger lady that helped us navigate the management’s idea of a menu…. She needs a better job, and a raise. The cook is not a chef. There is no imagination in this establishment.
Do yourself a favor and just, no.
Very nice and professional.
Sat in the out side area, dog friendly!
