We were excited to try this place after looking at their extensive menu online. Instead we were disappointed to find their actual menu to be less than half of what it shows online – no fish fry, no chipotle chicken avocado, no pulled bacon, no bacon potato salad. I finally settled on a regular boring chicken sandwich. Though they couldn’t make a chipotle chicken sandwich, they did have chipotle mayo that I was able to slather on my very dry chicken. But that also cost me $0.75 extra. Another shocker for me was no free refill on my diet coke! I was charged for 2 drinks. I wish I could say the server was at least apologetic and friendly but no, he was quite the opposite. I asked for silverware and he grabbed some from a table behind us and kinda just threw it down. He did not seem very happy being there. He didnt tell me about any of the “extra” charges either. The only thing nice I enjoyed was the atmosphere. It wasn’t too busy for 6PM dinner crowd and the decor was awesome. Also must have their bacon fat popcorn. So maybe stop in for a drink and popcorn. Otherwise, with so many other food options on this same street, I recommend you go elsewhere.

Been here a few times and always had a great experience, but my girlfriend and I just had an outstanding one. Our food was good, but it was our server and the bartenders who really stood out. They were extremely attentive to us and our needs, ensuring we had a great meal and drinks. David the bartender showed us some of their new cocktails coming out, and went into depth on each one for us, visit made our day!

Lame overpriced burger.
Food was disappointing.
I was in the area for a convention at the Baird center. This looked nice so our group went for dinner. I decided to treat myself to the “Signature Burger” and was looking forward to it, but it was small, dry, and had very little of the toppings described. This is their “Signature” burger? For $18?! Wow. Lame. The bun cracked from being a little stale. They skimped on the toppings so much I couldn’t tell if some things were there at all. I asked for some barbecue sauce to give it something. Still not worth finishing.
The mac and cheese and the wedge salad looked good. Overall, meh.

We had a great waitress, don’t remember her name but she was very friendly and fun. I got the Wisco burger, which is the best burger I’ve had in my life (and my mother was an executive chef). My partner who is not a big burger person enjoyed their burger as well (I dont remember which it was), but will ask for extra sauce next time. We both very much enjoyed the fries which were cooked perfectly and well-seasoned. The bacon fat popcorn was also a big hit with my popcorn-obsessed partner. Extremely grateful to have this place within a quick walking distance, and will be stopping by frequently from now on.

I came here for a quick bite before the Linkin Park concert after reading reviews that mentioned the friendly staff. We checked in and were seated within 15 minutes, and our waitress greeted us warmly. She even brought over some bacon popcorn to start, which was a nice touch.

I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with coleslaw, while my boyfriend chose a burger. Unfortunately, my sandwich was disappointing—the chicken was overcooked and dry, the bread crumbly, and oddly, there was no mayo. Once I asked, the waitress quickly brought some on the side, which helped a bit. I still ate most of it since we had a long trip in and limited time before the show.

When Alisha (I think that’s how you spell it) asked how our meal was, I was honest but not complaining—just mentioned the chicken was overcooked. To my surprise, she brought over the manager, David, who apologized sincerely, removed the sandwich from the bill, and even offered to bring me something else. That level of customer care was completely unexpected and very much appreciated.

While the food wasn’t perfect, the staff more than made up for it with their friendliness and professionalism. Because of that, I’d absolutely give this place another try—just not the chicken sandwich next time, lol. The reviews about the great staff are definitely true, and I’ll be back.

The ambiance was great as was the service.

Fantastic German dinning hall! service was excellent even though they were incredibly busy while I was there. Feels like a piece of the old world , the artwork, carvings, and stained glass make this place worth a visit alone, but they also have some of the best ßaurbratten I’ve ever had!

Service was incredibly slow although the server was pleasant. Food was basic bar food but was OK. It was pretty loud. I was with my daughter so I couldn’t sit at the bar but I think it would have been a better experience. My cocktail was good!

I was in town for a convention. At the restaurant 5/26 early evening. Looked at website prior to going there and from the website it seemed reservations were needed to get a table because it took me to OpenTable to select time from website. When arrived 15 mins before reservation time I was confused why even needed it in first place hostess asked how many to be seated immediately until I told her I made the reservation and there were plenty of open tables. As far as everything else it was great. Our young lady server who was training that day was great at letting us know she was training while showing the new server the ropes. She was attentive to us even with training him. The food was spectacular. When I asked for specific things for carrying out the leftovers our server was able to accommodate what I needed. If I lived in the area I would recommend Oak Barrel as a place need to stop for food!

Stopped in here for dinner. It wasn’t too busy on a Tuesday night. We were able to find street parking (paid).

The butter fat popcorn was delicious. The food was very good as well. The burgers were good and the sides were decent.

It is spacious inside and there were plenty of tables – bar top and normal tables. If you are downtown, this place is worth a look.

I really enjoyed our server. She was attentive and helpful. However the food was unfortunately bad. I gave the food 2 stars because the pretzels while overcooked were edible and the sweet potato fries were good. We also ordered a recommended French onion soup, it was very bad. It tasted like we were eating straight au jus. Two of us ordered grilled cheese. It was also really bad. And one of us ordered a pasta that tasted like an overly salted hamburger helper. We are here from out of town and very disappointed. Maybe their drinks are good, we did not order any.

We also did not send anything back or let them know. The food was so bad that we just decided it wasn’t worth it. We paid our bill made sure to tip the good service and made a mental note to never come back.
