Food- we order the 2meat/2side platter with pork and chicken. Both were amazing, the sauces were also delicious. Definitely enough food to share between two people if you arent wanting a massive meal. Beer, cocktail, and wine selection were also great. Kids menu had about 6 options, which our son loved.
Ok, if it says spicy on the menu, IT’S spicy. Everything we had was fantastic. BBQ was perfect tender, and the cracklins were amazing with the pimento cheese.
Let’s not forget the beverage menu. A great selection of local and not so local craft.
In Richmond, you gotta stop by and tell them the banana bird guy recommended them.
Keep in mind that this is off the Bottom and if they are busy, parking is limited. Well worth the walk.
Highly recommend a visit and it was great to sit outside.
We ordered four meats, four sides, and upgraded to cornbread. The meats were wings, brisket, spare ribs, and pulled pork. Every single one was extremely dry, like beef jerky. We kept trying the next meat hoping something would be better, but nothing was.
The spare ribs were boneless yet so hard it felt like I was chewing bone instead of meat. The chicken wings were even worse. There were so many feathers left in them that when I tried to pull one out, half the drumstick came with it because the meat was that tough.
The cornbread was an absolute brick. It was so hard I couldn’t even poke through it. When I showed our server while literally trying to press into it, he acknowledged it and said he would bring us dinner rolls instead. We never received them, even after the meal was finished.
When I asked for the cornbread to be removed from the bill, I was asked whether we had eaten it. We took one bite and couldn’t eat any more. The server even admitted it may have been sitting under a heat lamp too long.
Overall, the food was terrible and the service was disappointing. Never refilled our drinks and aside from a brief apology, nothing was done to address the issues we raised, including forgotten items.
We were told, “next time will be better,” but there will not be a next time. Definitely not coming back.
It was delicious! Great beer menu as expected. I got the turkey sandwich and boyfriend got the pulled pork sandwich. We tried the Mac & cheese, cornbread, & slaw. Their take on Mac & cheese was mouthwatering—definitely try it. Cornbread was moist and the perfect amount of sweet and salty. Slaw was wet and crunchy (a good thing). Sandwiches were juicy and packed with flavor.
Service was good too—our server gave us a nice amount of space and left us to it, which we personally appreciated, however for the first day of opening I feel like other guests will want a bit more of a connection and information about this new spot! Still kept our drinks filled and asked us if we needed anything which is all we need for great service!
We are totally returning and will recommend!
