Wonderful Food! We came for the tasting menu so we could try a variety of their dishes. O-Ku served exceptional fresh sashimi. The Usuzukuri is a great salmon choice. The Godzilla Roll had so many great flavours. Make room for dessert – the Matcha Pudding was a standout. Thank you to Jake for the great service.

We visited Charleston and had our first meal at O-Ku. The service was great and the ambiance was really nice. We ordered the Sake Mixer, which was enjoyable. For food, we tried the bao bun — it tasted okay, but it would have been better if it were warmer. The crispy rice with salmon was very nice, and the Playboy sushi roll was also good.

I wasn’t expecting anything special on my visit to Charleston. My friends wanting Sushi there made me question their sanity. Boy was I surprised.

The Sushi was better than what I experienced in NY, Chicago, Honolulu, São Paulo… The Buns were also some of the best I’ve had anywhere.

If you’re in town, this is a DEFINITE win for you. My mouth is watering thinking about my meal. (Definitely try the lemon Salmon roll … OMG!)

The staff was great, the ambiance of the place is a cozy feel in a big space. Very sexy and modern.

Just go! Trust me you’ll love it.

Did not appreciate the treatment when we came here. The sushi was okay overall, but when the restaurant is not crowded, and you’re seated in the very back as a brown person, it definitely sends a message. Will not patronize this restaurant again. Should have left after we were seated.

Atmosphere a little too modern for my taste but polished. Service was great. Food was great. Lots of activity but still able to have a comfortable conversation among 4 people. Not the best pictures but…

Overall this was a great experience. We went during Restaurant Week and I am glad we did because for $55 it was a solid experience with good food. The pork dumplings were good but not amazing, the duck bao buns were tasty and the Godzilla roll was delicious. The pineapple cheesecake was the only dish that was lacking. Japanese desserts are not sweet by nature but this was not sweet and lacked flavor. We suggested adding grilled pineapple (in lieu of the gelatin) which would make the dessert very tasty. One of the owners, Kimball, stopped by a few times to make sure we were enjoying our experience and the personal touch was well appreciated. We look forward to trying the location in DC.

Amazing sushi! It’s a little pricey, but reasonable for downtown Charleston. The atmosphere was beautiful and romantic with dim lighting and a very aesthetic vibe. Our waiter was also very kind and attentive.
Great food and a great overall experience—we really enjoyed it.

I used to go here all the time with my family and when my friend’s birthday rolled around we decided to take her here. Let me tell you… they did not disappoint!
The bao buns were delicious and the chicken dish we got was also so good! The sushi was just as I remembered it and I think they are really well priced for their location and quality of food!

The food was so amazing and yummy. I had the sushi and it’s was so good. The drinks are great – I love their sugar and spice cocktail. The ambiance and low lighting is also so cute for a date night.
