Amazing, authentic Portuguese food in a charming family-owned spot. Everything was delicious and full of flavor. Matt was an awesome server — friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. Highly recommend!

Always delicious. We got the chorizo, garlic shrimp, beef stew special, and the classic Portuguese steak with perfectly runny egg and crispy french fries. The sauces are amazing. They also give bread and oil on the house.

What a quaint little place! Our employee got us a gift certificate for Christmas because we love trying new places and it was wonderful! I had the gambas a la planche and Mario had the Bife a Casa. So good he practically picked the plate clean. The desserts are all home made. You feel like you left your grandmother’s house. I so loved the fresh vegetables too. We’ll certainly be back.

It took 10 years but I finally made it here. Absolutely met my expectations. I came for the cod, so that was that. It was really, really good. Other dishes, shrimp and oxtail were also great. Problem was I wanted almost every special they offered! Especially the octopus. The service was special, like family. A memorable dining experience, top 1%er and I have experience. Can’t wait to come back. Thank you, thank you.

This place came recommended by a YouTuber, which meant we had to check it out to verify. It was an easy Uber ride from downtown Providence to O Dinis.

This place is likely as authentic as it gets! The service is warm and attentive. Our server told us what to get and she was spot on. The Portuguese sausage and Little Necks were a hit. I knew I had to get the Salted Cod, but I will say it wasn’t for me. I understand lovers of fish will enjoy this dish very much — I guess it was too authentic for me!

PS: The bread here has a heart-shaped center ❤️

I had ordered a steak sandwich medium well done with an egg. I got a steak that was cooked well done with an egg that was over cooked. I also opted for the rice instead of fries and they gave me both. This place has gone downhill. I would go somewhere else.

O Dinis – An Unforgettable Dining Experience

In May 2024, a large group of friends gathered for the first time since the pandemic, and while we had an amazing weekend exploring Rhode Island, the absolute highlight was our dinner at O Dinis.

From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel like family. Our waitress was incredible—handling our large group with ease and enthusiasm. Most of us had never tried Portuguese cuisine before, so we entrusted her with our meal choices, and she did not disappoint. Every dish was phenomenal, and the wine selection was just as impressive. They brought out different bottles and multiple glasses so we could sample a variety, making the experience even more special.

My wife and I are big foodies—we’ve dined at James Beard Award-winning and Michelin-starred restaurants—but this was hands-down our favorite group dining experience. If we didn’t live in Texas, we would absolutely be regulars. We’re incredibly excited to return this June when our group gets back together again. O Dinis is a must-visit!

The best Portuguese restaurant in New England, by far. It is not very big in sq ft, but the quality of the food, the friendliness and politeness of the staff and its owner(s), magnify its potential with their proud Portuguese roots, as reflected in their typical Portuguese menu. Above all, everyone is treated as “family” and welcomed with such kindness and honest greetings, making everyone feel special. From your first visit to O Dinis, you are treated with the same appreciation and welcomed embrace as a repeat visitor.
Congratulations to Natalia and Team for being a key part of o Dinis vision and friendly approach. You are a success in our community by representing the Portuguese culture and way of conducting business in an honest, humble manner, treating all with respect and much kindness.
