I love the cottage-like feel I get when I’m here. The service was beautiful and the waitress was really nice. The Ramen was perfect and I got Mild which was the perfect amount of spice for me. The ground pork already comes with it in and the Glazed Buns were a great blend of sweet but not overly sweet. The parking is a little tedious but once you find a spot you’re set! Will definitely return ❤️.
Ambience nice. Parking very very tight. I reparked 3 x to fit within the lines. No handicap spot. Just learnt from some reviews here there’s apparently more parking behind – could you post a sign please? Wouldn’t take much to put up an arrow on a simple sign?
Food: Everything overly oily and salty. It’s like eating typical Chinese noodles in a fancy presentation.
Service is cold. Waitress more worried about the menu getting messed up so we “surrendered” it after she repeatedly stared and asked for it back. We were gonna keep it to order desserts oh well.
The only reason it’s 4/5 stars is because the waitress/cashier lady was so rude and standoffish. She was on her phone when we walked in, didn’t bother looking up. I eventually walked over and tried placing a take out order. She had an accent which is totally fine (my entire family does too) but I had to ask her to repeat some words again because I didn’t catch it. She ended up sighing and yelling at me because I asked her to repeat her words. I felt like such an inconvenience to her even though I was a customer. The food is good but nothing special enough to come back and deal with that lady.
I get it delivered across the river and it still arrives warm. I heat it up a little cause it tastes better borderline boiling. Sometimes the containers are covered in hot oil but I don’t even care cause the food inside is so good.
My ADHD majorly affects my taste preferences and something about the textures and spices here are super addicting. I like the chewy sesame rice ball dessert thingies. I don’t think you’re supposed to eat the liquid it comes in (I don’t). The inside tastes sweet and kind of like peanuts.
The other sweet golden buns are interesting, I think it’d be a hit or miss for some people depending on how sweet they prefer their sweets. The pork bao buns are *chefs kiss* texturally and taste wise. They are like little fluffy clouds.
I’ve tried the vegetable and pork gyoza and they are alright. They have a really thin outer layer so they are texturally very soft when steamed to me. I think I just prefer the non-steamed version of gyoza that has more bite or a thicker dough. They are presented beautifully though.
For spice levels I feel like there is a big difference between medium and spicy. I have ordered spicy a few times and I can still eat it but the oil is a little heavy and low-key traumatized myself eating it. I didn’t realize I got mostly surface oil in my spoon and it went down my lung and it was the worst pain I’ve ever felt from having food go down the wrong pipe.
If you can eat budak spicy carbonara with all the spice added but tend to dilute it a little with dairy then medium spicy like myself is probably the way to go. Medium has similar amounts of spicy oil but it feels less strong so I get more flavor and I don’t worry about aspirating on hot oil LOL.
