Bienvenidos a Nuevo Mexico… Located in the heart of South Slope Brooklyn, Nuevo Mexico has become a niche restaurant for brooklyner’s craving a bite of Puebla, México. The restaurant opened its doors in 1991 by a couple migrating from Puebla, Mexico. Originally named “Tacos Nuevo Mexico” and then changed to “Nuevo Mexico” in 2008 after renovations. It started off as a little Mexican joint selling tacos, tortas & burritos throughout the years. The atmosphere at Nuevo Mexico is casual, cozy and family friendly. We welcome you to our home and are happy to cater to everyone.
A big menu of classic Mexican dishes is the draw at this rustic Park Slope restaurant.

There was like… a wasps nest above our table (inside)? It was so confusing so I don’t know if it was weird decor or truly a bees nest.
The margarita pitcher was a delicious drink!! Just too much ice for the price.
Lots of seating if you walk in.
We shared the queso fundido with spinach and mushrooms along with fresh tortillas; the menu mentions they cook from scratch and they are true to the word. The wait was very reasonable and the queso was delicious. We noticed two things- the freshness of the ingredients and the heat of the skillet (don’t touch it).
Upon the hostress’s recommendation, I went with the chilaquiles of the brunch menu. I don’t actually like chilaquiles, but she seemed to passionate and to know what she was talking about. Everything was so flavorful and vibrant and the salsas all were amazing, especially the pineapple. They are all made in house with no preservatives, you can get bottles if you order two weeks in advance.
The decor is bright and welcoming with no shortage of Mexican flags. It’s a very comfortable atmosphere; we were greeted with backstreet boys but the rest of the time was Spanish music. They demonstrate an elite level of quality control.
I really Absolutely the BEST Mexican Family Owned Restaurant in BK!!!! LOVE this place and the vibes!!
