We came to visit and brought our friend from out of town. Let me just say the atmosphere, the love, the hospitality, the food were so good. So on point, we are very happy and delighted we stopped in the owner Laura was humble, pleasant, and greeted every guest she took the time and gave suggestions on what to order. This restaurant goes above and beyond for the customers. We felt the love. the chichaon tacos were .. Along with many other dishes, we will be back very soon. Your staff is truly great and so helpful. In this is an establishment they are family oriented kid friendly, and I highly recommend it. And the food is tradition mexican cuisine. 10/10

A very welcoming atmosphere with friendly staff and delicious food. Live music on the weekend. My extended family gathers here to celebrate birthdays. They’ve always accommodated our large groups. I bring my out of town guests here and they are always amazed!! My favorite: Carne asada tampiqueña. But I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve ordered at Nuevo Leon!!

This is the first time I’ve not only eaten here, but at a Little Village restaurant, even though I’ve worked nearby for a while. In general, I really like going to Mexican restaurants on the Southwest Side because the food is better than the North Side, the people are really friendly, and they always keep it real, so the atmosphere is laid back. This place is like what I’ve experienced elsewhere. The owner is there, and he really seems to enjoy what he’s doing. You can hear and speak Spanish if you want, and the food and drinks are good. I went with a Mexican person, so it must confirm that this place is authentic. I want to return with my husband, who used to come here with his dad years ago. It probably has the same vibe now as it did back then. Good experience overall, and they even gave us a free meatball and potato appetizer to start, then a free rice dessert at the end.

Hands down, some of the finest food I’ve ever tasted. The quality was exceptional, and every element on the plate felt thoughtfully prepared. The salsas paired beautifully with the warm tortillas — vibrant, layered, and bursting with character. Each bite delivered a perfect balance of spice and richness that kept me going back for more. I ordered the cheese enchiladas, and they completely won me over. Creamy, comforting, and packed with flavor, they’ve officially earned a top spot on my personal favorites list here in NLR. It’s not often a meal makes such a strong impression, but this one absolutely did. I can confidently say I’ve found my new go-to destination whenever I’m craving something truly satisfying.

I really hate to post this negative review, but the food was terrible! I really wanted to love it, but the food kept getting worse. I ordered the taco’s de Bistec, and they had no
flavor and full of fat. I ordered a side of FF and they were also terrible. The rice was hard and tasted like someone dumped a bunch of salt on it. Nothing we ordered was good. Even the chips served were stale. I definitely do not recommend it.

Well it’s just ok. Not the best not the worst. Cozy environment decent menu. The menudo was good. Their beans though must have been extra refried beans. I love in a NW burb and only come to this place once a year for a relatives birthday who likes the place. Now I still make the travel, almost an hour to visit neighboring restaurants on the same street other times of the year.

The last time I was at this restaurant, I was a kid, about 40 years ago. The nostalgia of the good times came back. The waiter was an older gentleman, very professional very welcoming!!! The complementary appetizer was amazing. Choice of hot sauce sauces! The food was very, very good!!!!!

I will definitely make the trip here again and bring my family along!!!!!

The last time I went to Nuevo León, I was really young and with my mother, and I remember it being good. But going back recently completely exceeded my expectations. From the very beginning, the customer service stood out. They brought us a mini appetizer—beef birria a la mexicana—and it was incredibly flavorful. Then came about seven different salsas, all perfectly made and delicious.

I had carne asada served over chilaquiles, and it was so satisfying—the steak was tender, and the chilaquiles were just the right texture. To top it off, they brought out a little dessert, some creamy rice pudding, which was the perfect finish.

Honestly, I was super impressed with both the food and the service. I’d love to go back often—this place really knows how to take care of their guests!

As soon as we sat down servers brought us complimentary small plates and chips that were absolutely delicious. For a main course I had camarones a la plancha and the shrimp was cooked and seasoned perfectly. It came with a fresh salad and delicious rice. My companion had chicken tacos. They looked fresh and tasty. The service was great. The atmosphere was lively and friendly. Will DEFINITELY go back again!
