We had a waiting time of 45 minutes on a busy Saturday evening, but we stayed. The aromas from the kitchen and the chaos in the seating area ensured we didn’t leave. We knew what we wanted even when the recommended dish were pizzas. The burgers looked too good to pass and we weren’t disappointed.
Creole BBQ Shrimp: They were half a pound and smothered in butter, but slightly lacked the Cajun seasonings and were over salted. Paired with the toasted bread it tasted fine, but this ain’t the dish that blew our mind.
Philly Cheesesteak: We chose the chopped ribeye and it was delicious. It was heavy, but we didn’t regret it one bit. My husband and I split the sandwich because we were both keen on the same one. It came stuffed with caramelized onions, sharp white American cheese on a fresh outta the oven French bread. We definitely drooled over this one. Paired these with beef tallow French fries and they were mouthwatering. Please do get this one even our server said people from Philly have said theirs tastes better than the one they get locally.
The Firecracker: If the shrimp was salty, the patty on this one had almost no salt. We loved everything about this one too, but for the slight hiccup of bacon even when we said we didn’t want any on ours. The server quickly got us a new one and we realized why the patty didn’t have any salt. It had the right amount of pepper jack, crunchy onions, Phathead Jalapeno Garlic BBQ sauce and jalapeno cream sauce that made the burger stellar. We paired it with asparagus and those were delicious. Thin and perfectly charred. The best ones we’ve had for sure.
Overall this place has the perfect menu for American food that will have you wanting more. A bunch of items that look and sound nothing short of delicious. We’d definitely be back for more because the pizzas had us wanting more, but there was no room even for a pinch of salt if you know what we mean! 😉
After one bite, we immediately knew we had to make Nubby’s a regular spot in the lunch rotation. Rating: Infinity /10.
I was anxious to try the pastrami sandwich. Normally served on marble rye, I requested it hot (you can also order it cold) on their seeded french bread with provolone and grilled onions, added mustard at the table. My wife decided to try the pulled pork sandwich with a side of fries.
My pastrami sandwich was amazing, excellent quality meat on a perfectly buttered and grilled french loaf, it melted in my mouth. The fresh and hot onion rings were quite delicious as well.
My wife loved her pulled pork sandwich, a generous portion of superbly smoked pork with plenty of savory brown bits. I tried a bit of the pork myself and completely agree with her assessment. It was juicy and very flavorful with just the right amount of smoke. The fries were hot and crispy and perfectly seasoned.
We were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and service and, despite living more than 30 miles away, will definitely return. Highly recommended!
