Nice change of pace for a sushi restaurant. Staff knowledgeable about food. Fish very fresh. Gyoza had a weird flavor and was not very appetizing. One of our dishes was brought out incorrectly as the waiter did not hear the order correctly – probably a simple miscommunication. The rolls are VERY large so beware. Restaurant was clean. Food came out reasonably quickly but I could see a wait if they were busy. Parking is a definite issue so plan for this. Also, looks to be very busy Friday and Saturday so come earlier. Would definitely recommend one try this for sushi in Charlottesville.

The atmosphere and experience here were great! We enjoyed the sake tasting and then ordered a small sake each of our favorites (I loved the yuzu sake and my fiancé got hawks in the heavens).

Absolutely fantastic restaurant! While the waiting area is a bit cramped on a Friday night, the sushi was HUGE. We got 2 specialty rolls, 2 normal rolls, and gyoza for under $70. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone in Charlottesville and I can’t wait to go again!

Tasty meal! I normally like meat in my mouth but I was with my Vegan friend, so I had to branch out. The server recommended we try the Green Giant roll, which was so big I could barely fit it in my mouth. It sure had some tasty sauce on it though!

Our experience at this restaurant was not close to perfection. The service was very quick and well, but the food was not very fresh (I had to use soy sauce to help with the taste). The seating area isn’t very open, so you may feel cramped when sitting right next to others. The sushi rolls were very large, which made it hard to enjoy my food and not feel like I have to stuff my face. I did enjoy the beverage selections with many options that are found in Japan.

After trying many restaurants in Charlottesville this is the one we keep coming back to, the food is always SO good, fresh, creative, quick, good price and always top quality. We’ve had many items on the menu— the dumplings are a must try (all of them!). Definitely a favorite. John is an exceptional waiter and is always quick with some great recommendations.

Favorite Japanese restaurant in town! I order the sashimi sampler every time and it’s always fresh! Katsudon and Katsu Curry are both great and big portion, but Unagi Don is not my type. Japanese style fried chicken is super salty, which I don’t like.

The rolls are huge, and reasonably priced. We ordered dinner for 2, plus drinks, and left with extras, all for under $80, including tax and tip. Sushi was tasty and cuts of fish were very generous. This was a fav spot ad a grad student, and 7 years later, still a place I enjoyed.

One of the better places for Asian food in Charlottesville, especially for Japanese. The food was delicious and came in nicely sized portions. However, I’ve given 4 stars because the actual restaurant is in a very small space so it feels overcrowded. We had to sit at the same table as 2 other groups and the waiter was occasionally hard to flag down.

This place was wonderful. We went there on a Saturday night and it was our first time there. We were seated pretty promptly and the restaurant was nice. The service was decent. It took a little bit to get our order in and then our food took a while as well. When it came out though, it was amazing. It’s hard to find good vegetarian cuisine and this was top notch. We had some vegetarian sushi rolls, peanut noodles, cauliflower, and dumpling, all were amazing. We will definitely be back.
