Reviews
I will also say although not a dish having a live piano player was just a nice touch that put it over the top.
If you aren’t interested in having a great dinner, great service and paying for it.. go somewhere else. This is great Italian food, hands down. If you want fast food Italian, go to Olive Garden – quit ruining the night for the rest of us who enjoy the food and atmosphere.
Quick service.
Spent no more than 1 hr 20 min there.
Now the bad:
We placed an order for:
1) Cesar Salad
2) Ribeye (special menu)
3) Pork Chop
4) Veal Parmesano (special menu)
Cesar – small portion for $36
Ribeye – turned into NY Strip. Medium ordered = Blue arrived. Had to send it back. They brought back well done steak.
Pork Chop – didn’t arrive as described. Missing potatoes.
Left $28 on $192 bill. The server ran after us and started shouting at us that its low amount of tip and asked what was wrong. I explained that a good time to ask was when we were still there… not eating.
We got into the car and the manager started banging on the window. I asked him if we should speak outside. He blocked the door realizing his minuscule stature. I politely explained all of the above.
He asked me where I was from. Shockingly awful service post tip… Wish I left $0.
Pregnant wife, 3 year old in the car.
Who does that? Not good people.
Veal – was good
Marco, thanks for everything.
1. Service- Starting off, we asked to taste a few wines before selecting one. The two samples in the wine glass were so incredibly small/minimal that we could hardly taste the wine to make a satisfying choice. It was as if the bartender was being deliberately cheap and mean. I have never experienced this before. Service felt so rushed- one waiter handled wine, one bus guy poured water and one offered the food menu. At one point the wine waiter was hovering over our table requiring us to respond to the wine sample while the food waiter was reading out the specials. We had to tell him to return later as she was demanding our attention. There was such a complete lack of coordination and professionalism. At 9:40pm on a Friday night there were two tables still sitting, one of which was ours. To show appreciation for our business at that time point, the restaurant team lowered all the lighting in the room as if to say…. OK folks, time to go! It was appalling. The bus guy, the food waiter and a few other staff members stood leaning on the bar, looking directly down at us to communicate that they were waiting on us to finish up and leave. Also, the food waiter and bus guy circled our table immediately after the bill was handed, again communicating that it was time to pack up and go.
2. Food: presentation and food quality was very mediocre. The Caesar salad was as average in presentation and taste as you would ever get. Trust me… the Olive Garden Caesar beats this hands-down any day and it doesn’t set you back $28! I ordered Chicken Parmigiana for my main- it came as a huge blurb of cheese, with the pasta swimming in sauce. Absolutely, no finesse or creative skills associated with the cooking or presentation of this meal. AIn addition, the thin chicken cutlet was overcooked and tough. Not tender at all. My friends described their food as ‘nothing special’.
3. Atmosphere/Ambience: I have eaten at Novello previously but this time our 8:30pm start was later than usual. The restaurant cleared out pretty quickly, but the atmosphere was ruined by the pressure we felt to finish up and leave as the last customers standing.
4. Price: Expensive and as it turns out ‘very expensive’ for the quality of the product and service they offer.
Verdict: AVOID. Simply not worth the bucks!
