This was truly a pleasure to go! Food was so good! I took home what I didnt finish and it was just as good!. Service with the staff was a 10 out of 10! Atmosphere was casual to dress.. They had the bar side as well as a more intimate side where you could have conversation. Highly recommend taking a drive and stopping for a meal or date night!

Definitely the best meal we have had in awhile and for what you get the prices are very reasonable. Most restaurant hands down of what we have seen in Winona. The staff worked like a well oiled machine together and Emily was very knowledgeable and hospitable.
The warm beet salad was so yummy and perfect in every way. The bread was super good unlike most restaurants. The exotic mushrooms was probably my favorite as it was so perfectly executed and unique. Specials sounded fun, but husband had the seafood paella which he loved and again had every component perfectly done. My scallops with risotto were perfectly cooked and yummy. I wanted a different flavor or texture, not sure what, but still excellent. The fall raspberry pavlova was incredible and perfect and fun to see on a menu. We had 4 cocktails and port which were all great. The bees knees and the sweet lady as an after dinner drink were especially incredible. Will definitely come back next time we are in town.

A Hidden Gem in Winona, WI – Even Better the Second Time

Just a hop, skip, and a jump off the Great Wisconsin River Road along the Mississippi, the charming town of Winona (population 26,000) is a place we stumbled upon a year ago and discovered Nosh. My husband and I were so impressed during our first visit that we made a point to return a year later, this time bringing our daughter and son-in-law. It was even better the second time around.

You know how rare it is when a restaurant exceeds your expectations on a return visit? Nosh pulled it off with ease. From the first bite of appetizers, deviled eggs with caviar and wings, to the last spoon of a rhubarb dessert, every dish was flawless.

The seared salmon had a crisp crust like no other. The hanger steak was melt-in-your-mouth tender and cooked to perfection. One of the evening’s specials, the Picanha, was so flavorful and unbelievably tender. The sides, like the grilled wedge salad, polenta and the bread with butter aioli were as tasty as each main dish. I could go on… but you really just need to taste it for yourself.

Beyond the food, the service was just as memorable. Every staff member we encountered was warm and welcoming, but a special shout-out goes to our server, Sadie. She was spot-on with her recommendations and on top of that, she was kind, attentive, and added a personal touch that elevated the whole experience.

And to the Chef, thank you. Even though you were juggling a large group event that evening, you still took a moment to offer a thumbs-up through the kitchen window for a quick photo. That simple gesture matched the spirit of Nosh, welcoming, sincere, and unforgettable.

Who would’ve thought you could get such a big city dining experience in a beautiful little river town like Winona? If you’re anywhere near the area, take the detour. You’ll be glad you did.

Banger meal for a hot date night! Everything on the menu looked great. Everything we ordered WAS great! Started with a mushroom dish and the deviled eggs (perfect). Pesto chicken pasta and the paella were our mains of choice, and gosh, they were both wonderful. Finished off with a creme brulee. I recommend splitting some starters, main and dessert, to spark some conversation about the food and personal preferences.
I can’t wait to come back for another meal!

I had the Noshburger. Very disappointing. The burger tasted like a frozen burger you’d get from the grocery store. Definitely not hand pattied or freshly ground meat. Hard mechanically compressed meat that was put in a charbroiler. Lacked seasoning. Bacon tasted slighly off. Bun was not toasted! Definately not from scratch. Seriously! Onions not even lightly browned. Served with potatoes that were obviously par-cooked, had been stting under a warmer for hours and barely seasoned. One plus side the meringue desert was good and the server was nice.

Fantastic service and food! My wife and I enjoyed this very much, particularly the Caprese salad, the scallops, and the nosh burger! The food was delicious and unique without being pretentious and the outdoor patio was next level! Really enjoyed this restaurant – the inside is a little loud and dark, but the outsideis extremely pleasant. The service was very attentive. Five stars!

Reminiscent of a swanky New York or Chicago restaurant, Nosh serves up amazing food at a chef owned restaurant with a daily menu featuring never frozen, fresh seafood at reasonable prices. The cocktail selection is excellent and no shortcuts were taken with my smoke on the water cocktail which was reasonably only $10. I started with a very and arugula salad, which tasted perfectly fresh (this is a farm to table place) and was served with the best foccocia bread in which I have ever indulged. I then ordered scallops, which were seared perfectly, but the risotto bed was a bit light on flavor. The service was perfectly timed, prompt, and professional. Were this in the cities, it would be a go to place for me. I highly recommend coming here, and do make reservations.

This is the best restaurant in all of Winona!! Get the mushrooms, clam chowder and any of the main courses! Definitely save room for dessert. Drinks are amazing! The smoke on the water is incredible! Stayed in town an extra day to go here twice.

Excellent service! Nice ambiance, welcoming, and knowledgable servers. Food quality was excellent with good presentation. Bread with butter from the house on a chilling winter night was very generous. On the other hand, I was a bit shocked to see that I was billed $2 for the hot sauce. Amount was just $2 but it was a total contrast to the generosity of bread on the house and general practice in all the other restaurants. Moreover, this is an upscale eating place and charging for any sauces except tomato and mustard sauce was a bit difficult to comprehend. Apart from this surprise, this is a very comfy relaxing good food place with friendly servers. If you want #halal food, you may have to opt for seafood or veggie dishes.
One surprise was Chana Masala. This is from #SouthAsian cuisine. Looks the chef make some of these international dishes once in a while. Another plus! I haven’t tried how authentic it is but may give it a shot next time.

Nosh Scratch Kitchen in Winona MN is an upscale restaurant with innovative dishes and outstanding flavor. The halibut with red pepper romesco sauce and polenta blew me away with the portion, texture, and insanely well done flavors. The crab cakes with a side of kimchi was a surprising treat. Crab cakes I’ve had for $14 (for two small ones) have been disappointing- not at Nosh! Great crisp texture, creamy well cleaned crab, tasty aioli and mild kimchi. My husband had the ribs, they may have been held too long as he said they were too dry and a bit tough. The servers were wonderful and very patient. I liked the dark ambiance with the river town memorabilia and dark wood/dark blue paint. I recommend this spot to anyone, they clearly have good management and outstanding chefs!
