Wow! A really nice post to refuel with local goodies you your stomach and outer inner adult child: yummy pasties (come early for the breakfast one!), artisan pizza and cheese bread, local craft beers, yummy yummy sweats including pumpkin cinnamon rolls and ice ice cream and seasonal coffees.
It has some tables outside to enjoy the view of Lake Superior.
A hidden gem!

Everyone was SOOO nice. We shared a regular pastie and some pasta salad on the deck after hiking all day and let me tell you! I was sad I didn’t get a regular one to go. But we did get two breakfast ones togo for over the campfire and that was a great idea. I highly recommend. (I did like the original better than the breakfast but I’m not a big sausage lover.) They were already cooked so I just covered them in foil. And voilà!

This was our last day in UP and our 4th day in a row eating pasties. So honestly, when we were eating them, we were getting pretty sick of them. However, beyond that, the pasties were really good, and in our opinion the best option in the Munising area. They’re all homemade from scratch. We tried the breakfast pasty and the veggie pasty. Both of them were great. The veggie pasty, though without meat, was surprisingly flavorful! If you sit outside, you also get a view to Lake Superior. I’d definitely recommend this place to someone visiting Munising!

My husband and I stopped because we saw the pasty sign. We had just been in Munising looking for Muldoons pasties, but they were closed. We are so glad Muldoons was closed because we bought one of the best pasties we’ve ever eaten! They were so fat and filled with so much meat, potatoes and veggies. Worth every penny of the $8.99. We bought ice cream too. We got a huge portion of that too! If you are looking for a great pasty, stop at the Out Post. The staff was super friendly too! We will definitely stop again when we are in the area. I’m hoping they ship!

Great food and great service! My family stayed at an airbnb 2 houses down from Northwoods. We ordered pizza when we arrived, walked back for ice cream a couple of hours later and then went back a third time the next evening. Very friendly employees and such a cute, convenient place when visiting Au Train.

Amazing experience at Northwoods Outpost! The atmosphere is great, and the service is even better. A huge shoutout to Teslyn for her professional and kind service. She treated me wonderfully and made sure I had everything I needed. Will be coming back for sure!

I tried the Spring Chicken Pizza on a cauliflower crust, and it was beyond fantastic — fresh, flavorful and perfectly balanced. Yummy! Even better, the team at Northwoods Outpost went above and beyond in customer service; they waited for me to arrive after a meeting that ran two hours late. That kind of kindness and quality keeps me coming back.

The most charming store in the area!
Pasties are phenomenal, gifts are adorable, and the woman behind the counter was absolutely lovely. Must stop if you are nearby.

Stopped in right at opening time. The gentleman got us on the road with hot pasties that were hot, moist and delicious. This small but clean and well thought out shop was well stocked so we could not only buy our pastie breakfast but also everything we needed for our hiking lunch and some cinnamon Trenary toast to bring home as a gift for family. Wouldn’t surprise me if the pizza was as good as the pasties.

We loved stopping by for ice cream after dinner. The staff was so friendly that I felt like I was in my own hometown!
PS. taking your ice cream down to the picnic beach across the road and watching the sunset is the BEST way to end your day.
