First time checking this place out and will definitely go again! The north woods logs app – get those – yum! All the food was tasty and the service was great! We went for the meat raffle and that was fun too.

Great place for food and drinks. Horse races is a lot of fun on Thursday nights along with the meat raffle. Major shoutout to Ariel, she is one of the best at what she does, always timely and makes sure everyone has what they need.

Great service. Had quesadilla but minimal chicken in it. Chilli. Chicken tenders were good! You can tell the fryer oil is changed lol. Drinks good! The BEST deep fried pickles! Second visit; Service was great! Bartender so nice! Nashville crispy chicken minus the Nashville was SO good. Steak bites and soup very delicious! Cole Slaw ok, maybe missing some seasoning, too much peppers? French dip fantastic! Trish is great!

Had a very bad experience when I brought my family for breakfast Sunday morning. The wait to get our food was roughly 30 minutes. Once it did arrive, my daughters food was wrong as she had asked for ham not sausage and her food had sausage. She was the lucky one as they had to remake it and at least it was hot. Mine, my husbands and Son in laws were all cold. My husbands toast could have passed for croutons and the pancakes were raw in the middle. As far as the server goes, she was less than attentive and never offered to refill any of the beverages other than coffee and did not check on us as we had our long wait. However, she did apologies at the end of our meal and blamed the kitchen staff for the poor food. We will not return.

Northwoods Bar & Grill gave us exactly the kind of experience you hope for in a hometown bar and grill. We stopped in during a day of YouTube filming for a local property video and loved it so much, we ended up featuring it.
The Patty Melt was spot-on: toasted just right, packed with flavor, and paired with crispy onion rings and seasoned sour cream. But the standout for me was the Timber Logs—jalapeño poppers filled with sausage and served with a warmed up raspberry sauce. Sweet, spicy, and totally addictive.
They’ve also got a great community vibe here—bingo nights, meat raffles, and that friendly energy that makes you feel like you’ve been coming for years.
If you’re looking for bars near Elk River, grills in Anoka County, or just some excellent comfort food in Nowthen, MN, Northwoods is absolutely worth your stop.

the place was crazy loud. the waitress in my opinion are dressed VERY casual for a restaurant. even if it’s a bar and grill. the waitress said that there is only 1 cook that cooked our food which is probably why it took around an hour to get our plates. some of us got pasta and it was cold.
