Northside Bistro was created by Chef John Scarangella, a notable Raleigh area chef with over 25 years of experience in the industry. Chef John’s vision for Northside Bistro combines his love for refined Continental cuisine and for providing a comfortable, fun, and upbeat environment where people can come and enjoy both in one great location. Hence our motto and vision for this project..Bringing Downtown, Uptown Come on by, enjoy a drink from our house-made cocktail menu and enjoy some of the best dining in the North Raleigh area!

The Caesar salad was a surprising highlight, with a dressing that stood out as one of the best I’ve ever tasted. I had the rib steak tacos. They were so so good. Are every bite. Comes with chips and salsa. Even had room for bread pudding. That was yummy too. With a Stella, my total was 37 bucks, but like I said super good, and I’m so picky about steak. It was juicy and melted in my mouth.

I ordered the duck wings and was extremely disappointed. They were burnt to a crisp, dry, and looked old — like they’d been sitting out for hours. To make matters worse, they didn’t even include the sauce they were supposed to come with. This was my first visit, and it will definitely be my last.

Northside has been one of our favorite local restaurants for a couple of years. The service has always been exceptional and the food is fresh. The chef has always been accomodating to food allergies as well. Our most recent experience left something to be desired, unfortunately. Our server appeared to be new and very unfamiliar with the menu. She showed signs of annoyance with us throughout our visit and was overall unpleasant. The bartender was also clearly inexperienced because a classic bourbon cocktail, an old fashioned, was made with soda water! Simply stated, it was awful. The octopus has always been hit or miss which is unfortunate. But when it is cooked correctly, it’s devine. On our recent visit, it was severely overcooked and burnt which resulted in a rubbery/chewy texture. When the server returned it to the kitchen, we watched the interaction with the chef and he was clearly offended and disagreed with our assessment of his octopus dish. But another one was prepared and delivered to our table and was appetizing. We are familiar with the owner of Northside and have spoken with him on many occassions – very nice guy. However, on this recent visit on a slow weeknight, we observed him walking around the empty restaurant but he never once approached our table. When a drink and an appetizer is returned, it’s proper for a manager, or owner in this case, to visit the table. But that did not happen. On a positive note, our main courses were made to perfection and enjoyed by everyone. Northside was always at the top of our list when dining out, but after this recent experience, it will be awhile before we return.

Had dinner here last night for the 1st time. It was a great experience. We had reservations so we got seated quickly. Food was delicious, waitress was very nice and attentive. My husband got the special pan seared sea bass and said it was amazing.
(Only negatives are Music was a bit loud and it was hard to hear the conversation and they say us near the front door so it was a bit cold when the door opened).

Wonderful experience. I’ve never had beef Wellington and I was blown away. The beef tenderloin and gnocchi had the perfect amount of sear and sauce combination. The blackened prime rib had a tomato cream sauce and a perfect char.

Had a great date night at Northside Bistro. The service was on point and love the attention to detail. The atmosphere is modern but warm. The drinks were perfect! We enjoyed the meatballs as an app, they were tender and delicious!!! Our meals were tasty and creative! We liked that the owner and chef came out and chatted with guests to see if they’re enjoying their meals! Nice touch! The desserts were YUMMY!!! Had a great meal- great for date night, family outings, or just dinner with friends. I recommend this restaurant.
