We ordered the Oysters, the beef Bourguignon, the trout, and the escargots. Overall, the Oysters were fresh considering they are not local, and were creamy. The escargots were flavorful but a little oily. The Beef Bourguignon lacked flavor and only had a couple cuts of meat. Long wait for food service. Arrived at 6 pm, did not get our entres until 7:10 pm Overally, a little pricey, probably won’t be coming back.
Our server arrived quickly and was very friendly and engaging. I do not recall his name but he told us his nickname was Island Boy.
We had the charcuterie board and a bottle of wine to start. I then had the NY Strip and frittes and my wife opted for a short rib dip from the appetizer menu for her meal. For dessert we had the chocolate mouse and creme brulee. Everything was delicious.
The atmosphere was bright and cheerful as befitting a brassiere style restaurant. I was not a big fan of the large window into the kitchen however. It made our little 2-top feel exposed with activity all around us. Also as a 20+ year restaurant veteran, i have seen all the kitchens i care to. The only other detractor for me was the apparent lack of a consistent dress code for the staff. The exceptional food and service, would IMO, be enhanced with a simple uniform like blue jeans and a black button up shirt. Still casual but with a bit more refinement.
All in all, it was a great meal and we will definitely return for more visits.
NY Strip Steak was extremely chewy.
Beef Short Rib was not very flavorful.
Escargot had good flavor but was swimming in garlic, salt, parsley, and butter.
Mushroom stuffed with short rib was swimming in oil with okay flavor. Very poor emulsion in the sauce.
Ratatouille was amazing and the frites that came with the steak were crisp and delicious albeit some bites were salt bombs.
Overall significantly overpriced for the quality and atmosphere
