Listen, the food is everything. I ordered the fried chicken wings, yams, peppered Mac, and cheese with a cornbread muffin to go. As soon as I took my 1st bite, I wanted to go back and order more. The chicken had a crunch and crispness to it, OH my mouth is watering thinking about it. The Mac and cheese had pepper seasoning, not your average regular dish. Baby the yams, you did that chef. Took me back south with this great food. Chicken was crispy and tasted like heaven. Collards melted like butter in my mouth and the Mac and cheese was on point with cheese and flavor. Topped it off with a cornbread muffin and a cup of Arnold Palmer. I got it to/go but there was ample seating and a good vibe in the restaurant. Portions were worth the price point. I will be going back if I come back to town. I hope to try the catfish if they have it next time!

I visited the Northern Soul Cafe today and was warmly greeted by my girl Charlene. She informed us about the special of the day consisting of catfish (boneless) served with dirty rice. I couldn’t resist pairing it with the mac n cheese and yams. The catfish was extremely crispy and flavorful without being overly salty, and the sides were so delicious they reminded me of my mom’s cooking. Needless to say, I left the Northern Soul Cafe feeling extremely happy and satisfied.

Friendly service and they check in to see if everything is good with your food a few minutes into eating .
Appreciated that the yams were not too sweet and the savory collard greens were made with smoked turkey.
We had the Sweet Chili wings and Golden BBQ wings and BOTH sauces were delicious!
My only complaints are that the decor needs to be updated and that the cornbread was a bit dry.
Fee refills on the delicious ice tea and lemonade when you dine in.
The food servings are healthy and enough to have two meals!
We surely will be back again!

Went for my first time today, I live over an hour away and yall…..I would still go if it were THREE hours away. The food was amazing, seasoned perfectly, hot & fresh. You can tell the owner of this establishment really cares about the quality of his food & puts in the time and effort. I can’t wait to go back

5 stars is not enough. The folks here are absolutely friendly and treat you like family. Food is beyond good. 5 stars do not do it justice. I got the salmon with the chef recommendation lemon pepper sauce and greens and Mac and cheese. Everything is beyond perfect. Greens are cooked to perfection. Not too mushy and not too firm, Mac and Cheese is firm and gooey. Salmon is so damn tender it is almost hard to eat. Across from MassMutual center so I am positive this place has to be packed before games or events. I can’t recommend the place enough.

For $20 dollars you get a plate that can easily feed 2. The food is fresh and well seasoned. The fried fish was crispy on the outside and nice and tender on the inside. It’s definitely worth the visit with great customer service.

My first time trying Northern Soul Cafe and im soooo pleased! Very nice customer service and THE FOOD IS AMAZING! Its not easy finding tasty mac, but this place did its thing! Chicken was made to order so nice and hot just how I like it. Yam were great. Everything was great! Hands down. I drove all the way from Hartford to try and it did not disappoint. This will be my new official go-to spot.
