North West Grill

We traveled from Louisiana to South Carolina and were looking for some GOOD food like we are used to back home. Reddit said they had “the best burgers” and they weren’t lying! We also tried the country fried steak, Mac n cheese, and collard greens. Everything was delicious!

The staff was super friendly and welcoming. The prices were reasonable and there was no wait. They offered a variety of desserts, but we were so stuffed that we took ours to go! I LOVED the interior of the restaurant too!

We heard they sell breakfast as well so we will definitely be back to try that before we hit the road again!

Don’t be fooled by the appearance of this little “hidden gem”. It was like stepping back in time in a small town where everyone knows you and loves you, and FEEDS YOU WELL! We were charmed by our waitress and the owner/short order cook who made sure we left filled and happy as clams. I’m craving another old fashioned cheeseburger like I had, along with delicious fries and some of the best onion rings I’ve ever had. Our group also sampled one of each of the four dessert offerings, and gave them all a thumbs up.

Great food and excellent service!
Make sure to leave room (or take out) for some of the homemade desserts and cakes they have available. We tried the hummingbird cake and the apple cobbler, and both were so good!

This is a wonderful place to eat at! I recently ordered through doordash and my order was wrong. I took it up there and the owner, Chuck, not only fixed my salad but gave me an extra one. The hot dogs my son ordered were fixed and we decided to eat in the restaurant. My son wanted to order an extra hot dog and a side of macaroni and cheese and we got two drinks, none of it I had to pay for. It was my first time going to this restaurant and I was impressed. It’s a small place, not many tables, but it was extremely friendly.

This hidden gem is right under your nose as you drive by. Next time stop and get one of the best burgers you can find around here. The fries. Wow these fries and as fresh as they can be. They cut the potatoes right next to the oil and drop them right then and there. You can’t get any better.

Awesome little spot. I got a burger and my girlfriend got a sandwich which were both amazing. The price was reasonable and the staff was super nice and quick. The fries are also hand cut!!!!

We were passing through and decided to check out a mom and pop joint. A cool atmosphere, our server was a little forgetful but very friendly. We got the chili cheese fries, with cheese burgers. And the fries are made in-house but are a little bland. Canned cheese, with what looks and tastes like canned chili. I wouldn’t recommend that. However, the cheese burgers were a lot better. I was a big fan of the sweet potato fires. Do not get the coleslaw. It tastes like pure mayonnaise. It needs either more vinegar or sugar to make it better. I’m always a big fan of places like these because they are dying and they are worth saving.

I’m definitely dropping 5 stars for North West Grill In Travelers Rest South Carolina! From the time I walked in I knew this was going to be a good run for me. I love the old fashioned places & I always know with places like this the food is going to be good! Mr John hands down you got the best burger in the Upstate! This small place is a BIG GEM ! I had my mouth set on a juicy delicious burger & you provided everything I expected! On the way I was checking out the burgers posted on maps and it stole me instantly! I ordered the smoked Gouda Pimento cheese Bacon cheeseburger and my lord yes you gotta cut them burgers in half! It was delicious! I recommend 10/10! The fries were delicious and they don’t need any seasoning to me, they are old fashioned cut home fries and they are delicious! I put vinegar on my fries and it took my back to the fair days I have had in Shelby NC with the vinegar fries. You nailed those fries! I also ordered Onion rings and they were delicious as well. My friend got the country fried steak and gravy mash potatoes and gravy and Mac and cheese, and the slaw is perfect. It’s creamy mayonnaise based and vinegar and I love it! We also got a hunk of chocolate cake which I was stuffed and could only take a couple bites of but it was delicious. I want the hummingbird cake when I come back it was sold out but I just know it’s good! I also ordered 2 hotdogs to go and I ate them later that night. They were slamming! Thank you Amber for making those and providing good service to us! I met some good people over the weekend here and I’ll definitely be back to see you! I also signed and put my $1 on the wall as you walk in it’s right to the right! CarolinasSweetTea!! I can’t wait to come back and see y’all! Everything was delicious! You deserve 5 stars and I’d give 100 if it was a choice! Out of all the places I’ve been here in the upstate this topped it off. The Best! I’m a country woman so I fit right on in here! The decor the food the service everything was great! Get that REV BENNY and that pimento bacon cheeseburger! That’s what you want!

I had high expectations. I asked for crispy fries and they were so limp and soggy I could squeeze drops out of them. I asked for slaw with To go plate, but none made it on the plate. Hamburger was good. but bun was soggy. The staff was very friendly. I would not go back .
