North Street Market in Onancock is the kind of place that instantly makes you feel at home—the shelves are lined with fine wines, more than 50 cheeses, and lots of gift-giving ideas. Part gourmet market and part art gallery, it’s filled with personality, and the staff are the sort of friendly, knowledgeable people who make every visit feel like catching up with neighbors. With thoughtful touches like their olive oil and vinegar bar, the market is one of the reasons we decided to buy a house in Onancock.

This is an incredible market originally in Onancock, with a recently opened location in Cape Charles. Great selection of wines, charcuterie, and cheeses that are hard to find on the Eastern Shore. Our favorite is the combo brie and blue cheese wedge, and the Santa Julia Malbec.

Absolutely darling little shop that sells Seaside Gourmet Chocolate that is made on the Eastern Shore in Belle Haven. It is fabulous! We had the Seasalt Pretzel. We also bought some Stonewall Kitchen Bourbon Bacon Jam and it makes a hamburger into another level experience! The proprietors’s advice regarding this product was spot on and we appreciate her suggestion so much! We paid $10 for the jam and $3.50 for the chocolate, so we didn’t make a big purchase; however, our small purchase delivered big time in quality and taste!

This gourmet shop is a treasure. I purchased two bottles of wine and a four pack of IPA beer. They are very accommodating. I asked if I could get a bag to walk back to the dock…no problem. If you wanted a specialty cheese or various olive oils or other flavorings they probably have it. I didn’t think I was going to purchase anything but I couldn’t resist. Worth a visit
