Located in Oakland’s Temescal neighborhood, North Light is a friendly neighborhood cocktail bar with a full kitchen. We have a sunny back patio and front parklet, as well as an intimate book and record shop curated by some of the best living writers, musicians, and artists. Our food is delicious and fresh; our drinks are ambitious but approachable; and our staff is the sweetest in the business. We look forward to seeing you soon!

The drinks were delicious and the service was friendly. The cocktails here are definitely adventurous, and you may find yourself having no idea what some of the listed components are, but don’t worry your server will be knowledgeable. No matter what you choose, it will likely be delicious.

Easy to make online reservations for the back patio. Warning that the patio and bar can get pretty loud with music and people trying to talk over it. Drinks were great. Good selection of mezcal cocktails. Entire menu is pretty vegetarian friendly which was nice. Umami tots and beet poke were good and complemented each other

Amazing spot for a great cocktail and the best tots I’ve had in a long time. Great service too, and the atmosphere is really fun. This would be a perfect spot for a date. I didn’t catch the name of my cocktail but it was the mezcal + Japanese melon liquor, and it was 10/10.

Love this spot! Very cute atmosphere and great service. The menu has variety— good drinks and snacks. Deeply appreciate the library feel inside and the back patio is perfection. And always great music! Highly recommend

There was a shooting across the street when we were there, the wait staff somehow stayed very calm. The tall masculine waiter (I forget their name) even sat in front of the door after telling us all to get down. They moved us to a table in the back, brought us complimentary drinks, and remade my food so it wouldn’t be cold. Way above and beyond, I really appreciated them that day.

Drinks: Blue Lagoon and Spice Runner were both so esthetically pleasing and well balanced to be enjoyed on the front patio. They also have a back patio, which was full but would imagine for the ambiance to be solid. As for food, the Beets & Ricotta was as scrumptious as it looked – a plate of food art to fill our souls. We lastly shared Jalisco Dip – a play on birria but with a sandwich and flavorful consommé with the Umami tots. Still drooling over it all and can’t wait to be back next time to try the other goodies!

I went here with two friends on my birthday and had such a great experience. Our server, Elyse, gave us great recommendations for drinks and food and checked in on us throughout the night. Elyse and the other servers made our experience so lovely and we will definitely be back! I also feel like this bar is unofficially a queer bar and my friends and I felt very welcome.
