The North Lake Bear Trap is an “up north” type of bar with great food, cold drinks, a welcoming staff and friendly patrons! We have an award winning Friday Fish Fry, homemade specials on Saturdays, nightly specials during the week, and on Sundays we open at 9 AM and serve a full breakfast until our lunch menu kicks in at noon. We have live music every Sunday, weather permitting. It’s outside otherwise we move it inside. In winter, we play bingo from 1 to 3 PM on Sunday afternoon! Stop in and enjoy the fun! I promise you’ll get a warm welcome! You may enter as a stranger, but you will leave as a friend!

The batter on this fish was perfection. The coleslaw was creamy. The potato pancakes were made with love. The blue gill and Perch were both fantastic. The old fashioned was also great and a tall coors in a frosty mug for $5? Heck yes. The owner came to our table to ensure everything was great- which is was. Will absolutely be back. So, so good!!

Fun place with a fun crowd. I stopped in for some live music on a Sunday afternoon and ended up hanging around longer than planned—which is usually a good sign.
Nice big square bar, which makes it easy to grab a seat and talk to just about anyone. Bartender was on top of things—quick with a drink and didn’t vanish like they do at some places.
Food is classic Wisconsin bar fare. Fried, predictable, but decent. You’re not coming here for a culinary awakening, and that’s fine.
Cool location near the lake with that laid-back, up-north feel without actually driving up north.

This place was on our bucket list of Lake Country taverns before the pandemic and we finally strolled in on a recent summer Saturday. The bloodies are great, made with a homemade mix, the fried chicken was flavorful and juicy (if almost too crispy) and the cheesesteak could feed a small family.
This place has not been immune to the price hikes, just like everywhere (the $17.95 for the chicken) but the food was way better than expected, the bloodies are just right, and the beer is cold. The ambiance is exactly what you’re thinking it should be and fulfills the charm prophecy its exterior promises.

The staff are incredibly welcoming, and the bar always has a mix of regulars and newcomers, all of whom are welcomed with a smile and a cheap beer. The food is never less than “good” and is often “ridiculously great.” Bingo is fun with decent prizes. The Bear Trap brings the rustic virtues of an up north bar within a few minutes of the city. Love this place.

We enjoyed a fabulous Friday Night Fish Fry with Cod and Blue Gill that was truly Outstanding! Excellent BoFs! Service was with a smile. While it was a little loud in a small space, everything else was perfect. Reservations were a breeze. We will be returning again and again!
