Walking in, there is a large bar and high top tables, a large dining room and private room to the left. Table for 2 with no reservations on a Tuesday night was immediately accommodated with no wait. Karla was the primary server for our table, she was prompt with refills and had excellent suggestions for navigating their extensive selection of dining options. The menu is loaded with traditional italian pasta dishes and entrees featuring braised short rib, branzino, and steaks. A nice selection of wines by the glass highlight Italian varietals and the standard cabs, merlot, etc… Calamari appetizer was excellent and came with a traditional marinara and slightly spicy remoulade. I went with the crushed meatball ragu for my main, dish was well prepared and portioned generously. Desserts are worth the splurge. Ask about a rotating feature, or go with classic tiramisu. All staff worked seamlessly to make this an enjoyable dining experience. North Italia has been in Birkdale for roughly a year, and I should have visited before now. Definitely a welcome addition, I will be returning soon. Shoutout again to Karla and Becca

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We had dinner here last night and honestly everything exceeded our expectations. From the moment we sat down, the service was very good—attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable without being overbearing. The drinks were on point as well, perfectly made and a great way to start the night.

For appetizers, we went with two different options: the white truffle garlic bread and the meatballs. Both were excellent. The garlic bread had great flavor without being overpowering, and the meatballs were tender and seasoned perfectly. They come with three, which honestly makes them perfect for a date night… or if you’ve got a third wheel with you

I asked our server what she recommended, and I’m really glad I did. I ordered the squid ink pasta with shrimp and calamari, and it was amazing—fresh seafood, great texture on the pasta, and full of flavor. My wife ordered the chicken parm, and it was so good as well—crispy, cheesy, and cooked just right.

Overall, the food, drinks, and service were all top-notch. You can tell they really care about quality and the guest experience. We had a great night and will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend giving this place a try.

What a great experience dining here. We came in for lunch. We were seated then it was a few minutes to be greeted. The bartender noticed and came to our table and started our order. She was great (12/12 @ 1 pm)

Food was off the chain. You have to know I grew up Italian so sauce and pasta are a huge comfort food. I find most Italian restaurants can’t match Mom’s sauce but North Italia may be close which is saying alot.

Meatballs were like my mother’s tender then served with sauce and ricotta cheese -what? Match made in heaven That is a lovey combination of meat and fat from the cheese and the acid from the sauce.

Arricini was so delicate and flavorful. Deep fried out side , melty cheese inside just fun

Then the main course was incredible.

Lasagna was constructed with cheese, sauce, short ribs and sausage. Truly a novel take on a classic.

The strozzapreti was also fantastic, chicken with a spinach, mushroom parm cream/broth. The pasta was hand rolled.

If you have not been here yet, make the time to dine with them.

I will be back

We went for brunch on a weekend with both of our young kids. The service was excellent, they had drawing tablets to keep the kids entertained, and the food was so good! We tried the french toast, eggs in purgatory, arancini, and a breakfast sandwich between us, plus a latte and freshly brewed coffee. All wonderful.

Visited North Italia for the first time last night. We got seated after about a 15 minute wait. There was a miscommunication with the hostess and the servers because after being seated, we did not have a server assigned to us for the first 15 minutes. Once we got assigned our server, Elijah, he completely made up for the wait. He was attentive and apologetic and did an amazing job. We ordered the White truffle Parmesan bread and the Meatball appetizers. Both appetizers were incredible and cane out pretty quickly. For our entrées, we ordered the Spicy Rigatoni and the Lasagna. They were also both delicious. Our drinks were La Dolce Vita and an Old Fashioned, they both tasted really good. There was a bit of a wait on the drinks (30 minutes because the bar was backed up). For dessert we had the Seasonal Butter-cake. All of the food had so much flavor and was worth the wait. Elijah was an amazing server and answered any questions we had and checked on us often. Overall a good experience because of how delicious it was, plus the service.

Sixth visit update (Feb 2025): visited for brunch on Valentine’s Day and everything was perfect and amazing. Great food, great service. Bloody Mary was the best I’ve ever had and the beef carpaccio and hot honey pizza were outstanding. Kudos to this place for getting back on track.
Fifth visit update (June 2025): the honeymoon is over. Food quality has dropped, beef carpaccio is half the size of the pictures I posted. Bartender Shaneka S. provides terrible service. Not likely to return, better service and food elsewhere. Oh well, this place was good for a minute.
Fourth visit update (brunch): Continues to amaze! Everything was incredible. Kale salad was heavenly, breakfast sandwich was insane, so good (and huge, bring a friend).
Second visit update: Wow! Went for dinner on a Friday evening and every single thing was impeccable: service, atmosphere, drinks, food. Loved every second of our dining exoerience. BEEF CARPACCIO was perfection, GRILLED BRANZINO and LUMACHE ALLA NORCINA were delicious. We both cleaned our plates which rarely happens. As for drinks, the SICILIAN MARGHERITA and MARCO POLO made us order seconds. Highly recommended.

First visit: A good fit for Birkdale. Drinks were excellent, menu was interesting. We tried a salad and a pizza and enjoyed it. Some wait staff was inexperienced but pleasant and trying hard to learn.

30 minute wait for a walk up on a Saturday afternoon and timing was pretty spot on. They were also able to accommodate an outside table at last minute. The drinks weren’t too long of a wait with a cocktail and glass of Chardonnay. We ordered zucchini chips as an appetizer but they did not come out until the entire order came out. We saw several tables around us served before we were and we had been seated before them. Since we were catching up we really didn’t mind the wait. The rigatoni we ordered was worth the wait along with my first eggplant Parmesan experience. Food was phenomenal. We ordered a few more drinks during the meal and the surfer was extremely attentive. Overall I’m not sure why this place gets such a bad review but in my book it is worth the visit.

We were a little unsure because of the low reviews, but the kids wanted pasta, so we gave it a shot. Parking at Birkdale can be tough, especially if it’s busy.

We didn’t have a reservation on a Sunday night but got seated pretty quickly. Shy, our server, was super friendly and on top of everything. The food was really tasty — we were so hungry we forgot to take pics!

The vibe inside is lively but not too loud. Overall, we had a great time and were glad we went.

5-25 Second time here and even more enjoyable then before. Great food and outstanding service. Our friends ordered a pizza and when server delivered it he apologised for burnt crust and mentioned a replace was on its way. What great service that must be because of great management. We inquired about there private dining facilities. Planning on recommending to our men’s and women’s social groups. This is a must try business

They have been open 6 weeks and are doing a spectacular job. Great food, selection, and best facilities around. The place was packed starting at 5:15 to 8:45 when six of us left. Paola, our server was outstanding: friendly, knowledgeable, attentive, and accurate. Note the unique facility: bar facing outwards with drop-down glass walls, on street patio seating. North Italia must have an excellent management staff because their total systems from resrvto ordering, drinks to food delivery, and billing ran smoothly. It is very rare for a facility to open for such a short time. This restaurant is a must for all.

If you’re a meat lover pizza pie girl like me then your search should lead you to North Italia. Their signature pizza, aptly named “The Pig,” is a masterclass in balancing salty, savory, and spicy flavors on a crust that’s worth the 23 bucks!
