I got a Caprice salad with no tomatoes. It comes with avacados, greens, mozzarella cheese. The avacado is inedible. It’s hard and there center is all black.

I went to this place yesterday, and the bread is hard and thick. But that wasn’t the real problem, these people were unprofessional. I went there to order, and the guy behind the counter made his own sandwich for his lunch break before he made mine. Very rude and unprofessional. Then when he made my sandwich, he put watery vinger on it, which made my bread wet and soggy. I’m not sure if that goes on there or not, but they did not tell me that they would put vinger on the bread. And I think that watery vinger should never be put on bread because it will make the bread soggy, what a unsmart idea to come up with to put on a sandwich. You put thick substance, like mustard, mayonnaise, etc., that will not soak the bread wet like watery vinger will. So I got a refund. The vinger was placed on my lettuce and dripped through the bread and made it soggy. The vinger also looked nasty and made it look like the lettuce was bad because the vinger was brown. I did purchase a Snapple drink and Doritos chips, to go with my sandwich,, which was good, so I kept that. I was going to purchase their chocolate chip cookies as well, but I already had a cookie from another store.

Anyway, the worse of all about these people is that they lied and said that I stole chips and the drink to a unprofessional proguard security guard. So I confronted them and told them that I actually bought the chips and drink, and have the receipt to prove it. So, they finally admitted that I bought it. This was my first refund I got at their place, so I don’t know why they lied on me and made false accusations about me returning the sandwich but keeping and stealing the chips and drink. Some people in that plaza are so desperate and money hungry that they will lie on you and falsely accuse you and even kick you out for getting one refund. Crazy people. And I see why some others say their bread need some work, their professionalism need work also, including what they put on their sandwiches. Watery vinger is a no no on sandwiches, it just soaks the bread and makes it soggy.

There was not much tuna on my sandwich.. It was more like a veggie sandwich. I’m so disappointed I was really hungry too.

For California it passes, though it doesn’t compete with sandwich places on the East Coast. Overpriced for the amount. If you’re actually hungry, get a regular instead of a small. This is a MUST.

This place was fine the first few times I went and the quality of the sandwich has gone down after repeated visits. I ordered a turkey on wheat, no mayo yesterday. The service and speed are ok, but the bread really needs some work. The sandwich was hard and dry.

I knew it was gonna be bad when I got the bag and it was hard as a rock. The first few visits the bread was ok. Not the best, but at least edible. Yesterday I struggled to get through it and ended up opening the sandwich to piece it together onto the edible half of the sandwich. It’s gotten progressively worse the last few visits. Looks like I’m going to be skipping this spot for a whiles.

This place is amazing! Their customer service is out of this world! I order from them on a weekly basis for my catering needs and they always deliver quality, fresh, and great tasting food. On time. I especially love their Italian Wedding sandwich.

What: North Beach Deli second location is set to be open on MLK Day. Aside from this location, they also have the original location on Jackson st.

Where: NBD is located on the ground level of City Center 12th St Bart station promonade. The shop is nestle between Radio Shack and La Salsa replacing the former Fresh Fuel spot.

Why: Because its not just a sandwich shop out of the blues. These are experienced sandwich makers at work that knows how a sandwich suppose to be and whats expected.

What to get: North Beach Turkey and Godfather.

What to expect: Depending when you go, the place could be packed with lunchtime office workers. What you’ll see is a no frills sandwich shop with friendly smiling workers eagerly waiting for your order. Since its their first day there wasn’t anything out of the ordinary as far as sanitation goes. The place is strictly to-go, but theres one table tucked in corner for two people. Sando are packed solid with three choice of bread: whole wheat, sourdough, or french. Basically you can go with one of their listed sando or a DIY including making sando a wrap version. My sandwicheez was really good. Thick slices of mozzarella and deli thin slices of turkey stands out. The bread never ever tasted dry or brittle as pesto were evenly spread on top and bottom of roll. Turkey slices tasted a bit too salty and briny. To wash it down, they gave me a large drink of choice on the house. Who doesn’t want freebies right lol?

Punchlines: New, friendly staff, efficient, experienced, limited seating, public transportation hub, self-service soda fountain, under $10 sando (including signature series), drool-worthy, happening, no combo deals, no gluten free options, low carb available.

Final Thoughts: Well, it’s like this. I’ve had better, but for the area and its surrounding this will do. Sando is worthy of its weight and size, but meat seems to be the issue. It’s not the baked in-house version, its processed soaked in liquid sodium to prevent drying out. Again, its a notch or two better than Subway, but falls within that category as well.

What I like the best about the North Beach Deli is how keto-aware this place is. The menu proudly presents a good number of keto options, including any of the regular offerings served in a lower-carb wrap.

It’s clean, bright, and near to all the downtown Oakland businesses and Frank Ogawa Plaza.

That it’s in a food court filled with high-carb foods makes lunchtime down here all the more pleasant.
