We had a blast at Norske Nook today. The service was great (our waitress took great care of us and she was very kind and polite). And the food… Yummy yummy! We bought a traditional apple pie for new year’s eve too, I am sure we will enjoy that!!

This is a MUST STOP when you’re visiting the DeForest Public Library from afar. I had the most delicious Potato Pancakes (think hash browns… But it a giant flat shape). My picky eater son ate his entire chocolate chip pancake! My daughter devoured the scrambled eggs, bacon, and toast.
But the PIES! My goodness, they were delicious. My kids clocked which pies they wanted right as we walked in. We had the rubharb crumble, chocolate mousse, and raspberry sour cream.
The server was so patient and understanding with my kids. It was a yummy, low stress brunch.

This is a family owned thing and they have three of them in the stare. The main one is in Osseo. This is a nice clean bright family restaurant specializing in Norwegian dishes. They also have burgers and sandwiches and everything is pretty darn good. They are known for their pie and baking. Recent I’ve had been there and had biscuit and gravy for breakfast and it was very good with a real homemade biscuit dense but crumbly . It was good. I’ve also had the rhubarb crumble pie, which I loved. And lso the Snivkers pie, which was a request from my ex wife , and I did like that but she swears by it, whatever! The pies and bakery are uniformly good. The service is warm and friendly. I recommend. Only open until like 2 or 3. So be aware. And they also have some cute retail on the theme. Cute stuff.

I was so excited to finally try some pie from here. I ordered the corn chowder. It was thick, bland, seemed more like a dip for tortilla chips. The chicken and biscuit was really salty with no other seasoning. Obviously frozen carrots, peas, and cubed chicken that may have come from a can. Heinz chicken gravy in a can is better than theirs. My friend had the corned beef and hash with eggs over easy. Eggs were over hard and he said the corned beef tasted really processed. Finally I get the Dutch apple pie and ice cream. I’d give it a 4/10. Ken’s meat market does it better. I had planned on getting more bakery items to take home but after spending $40 on the mediocre food I’d sampled I passed. I won’t be back.

We had stopped to take photos of the pink elephant then I looked at our Google maps app and saw DeForest is home to the Norske Nook. This past summer I had been at an estate rummage sale and purchased a Norske Nook cookbook so I had to go check it out. Wow the bakery just blew me away. So many pies! We sat down and ordered a meal too. I had a turkey melt with their homemade cranberry wild rice bread. It is soooo yummy! My husband had a breakfast bowl with sausage gravy. He let me taste it, yummy! Can’t go to Scandinavian place without trying their meatballs. They are worth trying so glad I did. We left with a pie, cookies and bread. They can sell you an ice pack if you have a ways to go. They have been doing food right for over 50 years!
Cassandra our server was welcoming she suggested the turkey melt, happy she did!

This place is a never failed good time! The lunch food is really great. Where they shine though is in the bakery. Some of the best pies we have ever had. The cherry crumble is amazing and the butterfinger cookie is the best cookie I’ve ever eaten! Love this place so much!!

We stopped in after recommendations and could not have been more pleased! Our server was very friendly and attentive. The food is absolutely delicious (omelet wrap and denver wrap) and the pie is incredible (death by chocolate and blueberry crunch) Definitely making this our Sunday morning regular!

Great food… Service was good but not great… Kept having to call him over to get more coffee and he didn’t bring it right away… We sat there constantly waiting for it.. he seemed like he didn’t want to be there… Excellent pies and muffins

Fun little diner with a Nordic feel. The food was well prepared & plentiful. We must have been there on a busy day, as service was slow. But we weren’t in a hurry. Good place. We’ll come back again.
