We stopped by Norm’s Diner today and caught it closer to closing, so there was no wait. It is usually packed, but the late timing made for a relaxed experience. Service was smooth and easygoing, and sitting at the counter gave it that classic diner feel.

We ordered the two eggs with sausage, crispy potatoes, and toast. It is a generous, hearty plate. The eggs were just slightly over-seasoned for our taste, and the sausage leaned a bit rich, but the toast was excellent and the potatoes with garlic schmear were a nice touch. We added pancakes, which rounded everything out and made it feel like a proper diner breakfast. Overall, a solid 3.5/5.

The cobb salad was the standout. A full wedge of iceberg, perfectly chilled and crisp, topped with hard-boiled egg, avocado, bacon, bleu cheese, crispy chicken (the go-to), and that garlic dressing. The dressing alone makes the dish worth ordering again. Easily a 4.5/5.

Overall, it was a really pleasant visit. Norm’s does comfort food well, and when the pace is a little calmer, it is an even better experience.

Walked in on Valentine’s Day for a brunch. It was super busy and is a small diner so this resulted in a 30 min wait time. There are signs for no waiting inside so we walked next door to the coffee shop and ordered a coffee there in the meantime.
Once we were seated at the diner at the bar, we were greeted immediately. The servers were so friendly and attentive. We ordered the biscuits and gravy, egg and pimento cheese biscuit sandwich, and Cinnamon Toast Crunch French toast. Everything was so delicious! Highly recommend and we will definitely be back.

Easily my new favorite breakfast restaurant. The chocolate chip pancakes were perfectly balanced, the house made sausage patty was a great compliment. The coffee is the best diner coffee I’ve ever had and I dare say even better than drip coffee at a lot of standalone coffee shops. The breakfast potatoes were delicious and unique. My boyfriend really enjoyed his vegetarian breakfast burrito with avocado. I would absolutely come back here. I’m already planning my next trip. Servers were absolutely chill and down to earth. Such an easygoing, delicious restaurant in a cute part of town.

Nice place for breakfast. Decent pancakes and excellent biscuits and gravy. Would highly recommend biscuits and gravy. Nice staff. Atmosphere is okay, lots of performative hipsters. Would recommend for biscuits and gravy and would only visit again for same.

Fantastic little diner! Service was friendly and fast. Great food with twists on the standard fare. The menu is small but well crafted. This is upscale diner food, not a greasy spoon kinda joint. Definitely recommend!

Absolutely LOVE this place. Had the breakfast Sammie which was fire. The pimento cheese and homemade sausage were so good on it. Also, the staff was amazing and super funny. I’m always gonna stop here when I come into Detroit. ☺️

Who is Norm? I kept looking for Norm the owner——but I met the owner-cook, Elise, and found her so easy and enjoyable to talk with. I was sitting at the bar, so I could watch her in the back doing her thing. I enjoyed the way the staff engaged with each other, and the patrons; you could tell they loved doing what they do. This is a classy diner, clothed napkins, flowers on the table and good food.

Norm’s has become our little weekend ritual, and honestly, I wouldn’t trade it for anything. My boyfriend and I drive in from the suburbs just to come here, and every visit feels like comfort wrapped in a plate.

He’s faithful to the Two Eggs Breakfast and never stops raving about it. According to him, the bacon here is the best in the world (and trust me, he takes his bacon seriously). The eggs are always perfectly cooked, and the rye toast? I think we both agree—it’s the best either of us has ever had. I don’t eat meat, but seeing him so happy with that breakfast makes me just as obsessed.

I stick to the Veggie Breakfast Sandwich with potatoes or the Breakfast Salad (I always swap the meat for avocado or something veggie-friendly). Every bite is fresh, flavorful, and made with so much love. And yes—I always add a side of rye toast, because it’s just that good.

What makes Norm’s extra special is how it feels. The staff are the kindest people, and the place itself is cozy without trying too hard. We usually play tic-tac-toe on the kids’ menu while waiting for our food (best two out of three picks up the bill ). It’s silly, sweet, and somehow makes breakfast here feel like a date every single time.

And the best part? You never wait long. Even on busy weekends, you’re seated quickly, and the food comes out just right—hot, delicious, and worth the drive.

Norm’s isn’t just a diner, it’s a little piece of happiness for us. If you’re anywhere near Detroit, do yourself a favor and stop in. Who knows—you might just find your new favorite tradition here too

Norms is such a special addition to the neighborhood it is exactly what we needed! The food is simple and incredible. It has all your favorites from a typical diner but so much better! Norms has quickly become the spot to be and it’s so fun to see all your neighbors enjoying breakfast or lunch! If you haven’t been yet what are you doing?! Get your butt over there get a shake, fries and a Cobb salad you will not regret it!
