October 11, 2025 my wife and I visited Norma’s per my sons recommendation. He patronizes this location several times a month with his son, our grandson. We arrived about noonish and was greated rather quickly. Shortly our drink orders were taken. My wife and I ordered the same thing. We both got the cheeseburger and the fries.
The burger was very good with all the fixing’s we asked for. For the size of the burger (no complaints on this dude) I wished there were either 2 tomato slices or one big one to cover the girth of this burger. The burger had great flavor. The fries…I gotta say, they were fantastic. Is that a big deal? Well, some burger joints that specialize in just burgers, have fries that are mediocre. I bet these fries would make great chili fries as the fries had enough salt and the right crispy texture. Is that an order that can be made here at Norma’s? Dunno. If it is, count me as a customer. Drinks were ready for both of us. My suggestion, go to a stronger tea. It wasn’t weak but dang close.
Our waitress was very cordial and expeditious with our orders. What we didn’t know we came in when closing time was around the corner. Knowing this after realizing what the time was, my wife and I hurried a bit so we didn’t keep the staff waiting way past closing. To our waitress credit, not once did she mention the Diner was closing soon. Kudos to you!
Definitely coming back to have the breakfast. That’s what our son and grandson do each time they visit. Norma’s, thank you for a great cheese burger and spectacular fries. Worth the money indeed. In closed are a couple of pics. Again, thank you!

Traditional diner is my jam and biscuits and gravy are my calling so we were told this was a must while in Joplin. The staff were great, the place was clean, the food was fresh and hot.
While there was nothing wrong with the food (except the gravy), there was nothing special about it either. Tasty and average with acceptable portions. The let down was the gravy. It was Sysco style…straight from the can and bland. No real flavor or enjoyment from the gravy. The coffee, while hot…was just hot brown water.

So when in there to eat with my girlfriend she just had blood work drawn she had to fast I wasn’t hungry and I think that made an impact on the waitress and the way she treated us because we just ordered the one meal a soda for her and I had a water and then I ate her leftovers that she didn’t want when we ask for sour cream before we ordered the meal we were not told the sour cream was not available until after we asked for it after the meal arrived we asked for the hash browns to be extra extra extra extra crispy and they weren’t fully cooked and we were informed that that’s as hot as the grill gets they couldn’t make him anymore so overall I haven’t been to Norma’s diner in 6 or 7 years and with that kind of service I won’t be back yeah because if we would have been informed that there was no sour cream available we would have ordered something different she would have weren’t informed of that I believe we were treated unfairly based on the fact that we were only ordering one meal for two people and I didn’t all I did was eat a leftovers I just think the experience overall was horrible the atmosphere was great but the service and the food left a lot to be desired

The hashbrowns were a little on the harder side. I asked for my eggs scrambled with cheese, which was extra. I didn’t eat the eggs. They weren’t good at all. The cheese was only on half the eggs. I was still charged for the cheese, which I didn’t really care for. Other than that, it was okay! I took my friend to breakfast here. She said hers was delicious.

Excellent experience! The food is outta site! Great homemade fresh hot delicious dishes! Took the back roads from Branson and found Norma’s in Joplin. I’m so glad we did. The corned beef hash was perfect, the eggs also cooked perfectly. Definitely worth the trip no matter which direction you’re coming from. Definitely 5 Stars!!!
