I didn’t want to geve them 1 star so assume I didn’t give them 1. I specifically spoke with the lady regarding my order and told her it was delivery through doordash. I told her what I wanted and needed to know how to add the extra charges. I followed exactly what she told me to do and placed my order for delivery. THANK GOD I decided to call in to make sure the order was correct after placing the order when I first called in. The lady completely flipped the script telling me I didn’t put in the extra charges which was a lie. I added other items as she told me to so the extra would be paid since I told her it was doordash and telling me to pick it up knowing dang well they were closing, and I would have never made it from where I live. She then gave got off the phone and some guy got on it, and I could barly understand anything he was saying, but was trying to also say the extra wasn’t paid when I was charged $65.00 for the order. He then said “if you come an get it, it would be cheaper then”!! If I wanted to pick it up I would not have wasted my time on the phone with a guy I could not even understand his broken english. If you except a delivery and tell me what to put in to pay for extras, I should have expected to receive my order. I will never go to this place again because it really ticked me off bad, especially when I placed the order into to be fixed and picked up before their close of business. I felt like calling ICE I was so mad. You owners, because I’m sure yall own that spot should know what you can and can’t do for a customer. Don’t tell them to do it and then say OH NO WE CAN’T DO THAT!!! Fooling with yall it was to late to get food from somewhere else except wawa or pizza!!! NOT WHAT I WANTED!!! Where will yall go when the entire mall is torn down???

The food is tasty and they give large portions. It’s basically the only reason we go to the mall now.

First time trying this place, we got the chicken teriyaki and we’ll we were disappointed, while the chicken is good, the portion was very small, we ordered for pick up and once we got home and opened it the rice fills the container 90%, veggies are 6%, and chicken is only 4%. We got one without veggies and that one looked that same with the chicken. At this time they’re closing at 6pm and we ordered at 530. Idk if the closing time has anything to do with the portion sizing but for 9 dollars we spent on each of these tonight, we’ll probably travel to Virginia Beach from now on.

I have been eating here since I can remember but at least since 2004 or so. I eat here at-least one month. I swear this place is the reason the mall stays open. The quality on the chicken teriyaki is out of the league of mall food court meals. The price makes it an amazing deal. The service and staff are what makes it great.

Genuinely some of the best East Asian cuisine I’ve had, it takes awhile for the food to be made but it’s worth it

When I was in high school in the early 2000’s, I would walk around the mall with my friends. As we passed through the food court, we would always get excited to see the folks of Nori Japan passing out free samples of their “yummy yummy chicken”. Sometimes we would take a couple extra laps because it was so good! To see that they’re still around is truly a blessing to the heart of my childhood. Thank you for being here all these years.

Nori Japan… was probably the first place I ever tried teriyaki chicken all the way back in 2003 or 2004. I was blown away and by high school I was a fixture there ordering the teriyaki chicken with double meat, on rice or noodle, with no veg probably two to three times a month until I moved away. Then every single time I’m back home the first place I stop is at the Chesapeake Square Mall and sure enough the familiar faces that have been working and owning Nori Japan for years are there to greet me, they still remember my order, and the teriyaki sauce is still my favorite in all of the world and I’ve had teriyaki chicken in places all over the world from Tokyo to Bangkok to hell London to Hollywood and still… Nori Japan Chesapeake holds that #1 spot for teryiaki chicken for me.

This place is an institution and a corner stone of the area. A a true blessing of a restaurant, I can promise yall that.

P.S. if yall could tell me what your teriyaki sauce recipe is since I live across the country now… I’d kiss yall lol
