Amazing amazing amazing! We ordered three dishes, the Pork Sekuwah, the Himalyan Masala (chicken), and a butanese dish Datsi (chicken). We also ordered Momo dumplings. We shared and got to taste everything. Each dish was unique, absolutely fresh, and delicious. The Masala is similar to an indian Masala but more tomato forward. The Datsi was nutty and buttery. I hate to say I had a favorite because it was all soooo good, but we all raved over the Sekuwah. The pork was seasoned and cooked to perfection and came with a special sauce for dipping. On top of the delicious food, the ambiance was spot on. It felt like walking out of a snowy mountain village into a warm Nepalese mountain cabin. What sounded like Indian (similar cultures) music playing softly. Prayer flags hung across the ceiling. I’ve never been to Nepal but I felt like we got a small taste of their food culture today. Thanks to the owner and his wife for a wonderful experience.

At Norbu, every color, flavor, and story comes together to create a taste of the Himalayas.
This was my second visit to Norbu Lancaster, and the familiar smell of spices instantly brought me back. I was impressed by the Nepali and Bhutanese dishes again – especially the Nepali thali, a comforting mix of rice, lentils, vegetables, and seasoning.
The restaurant was built on the combination of its owners’ diverse backgrounds: she grew up in Lancaster, while he brought his family recipes from Bhutan. This fusion is likely the reason for Norbu’s uniqueness and attractiveness. The restaurant is both rooted in Lancaster yet filled with Himalayan warmth. It reminded that learning about food is also learning about how people build home wherever they are.

If your looking for anything other than what you’ve been getting, you have to come here. Our server took the time to explain what we were about to encounter. Gave comparisons and recommendations to help our 1st time experience be memorable. Good thing we had guidance! The heat profile was inline with my eyes tearing and a medium sweat. You’ll see. Even with that, the food was good and clean and consistant. Great experience overall. We opted to sit in the low to the floor seating. Cool videos on Instagram, @Manny_Vision

We enjoyed the tail end of a lovely buffet ! 1:30pm on a Sunday . Our server offer us to check the buffet / or the menu . As this was an unplanned stop we picked the buffet . Ginger tea offering was excellent! All the food was fabulous including the crunchy kale veggie dish! Rice pudding was amazing a lovely secret nook.

Lancaster is lucky to have this noble place! They have an iconic display of design and decor. The food is always done so well. I was here twice-once at lunch they had a buffet style and the other time in the evening we ordered. Either way, both times everything was quite palatable and consistent in quality.

We had a fabulous lunch meal. We came at a slow time and the waiter spent a lot of time telling us about different dishes. The food was amazing and service excellent. Really great flavors. The atmosphere was very nice as well.

We loved this place! The food was incredible. The waitress was very kind and friendly. We had never tried Nepalese nor Bhutanese food. We recognized a few dishes from our experience with Indian restaurants but many entrees were unfamiliar. Everything was very clearly explained on the menu and easy to understand.

My favorites were the apps: the jasha pakora (ginger chicken fritters) and the shabaley (beef patties) were both very flavorful.

The ginger/cardamom iced tea was also a favorite. We both thought it was amazing. The mango lassi was lighter and tastier than mango lassi that I’ve had at other places.

My fiancée got the paa with pork. She liked it. She said the vegetables were nicely crisp-tender and it was well-balanced. It was not spicy.

As someone who loves spicy food, I have to warn you… the Ema Datsi does NOT mess around. It’s overwhelmingly spicy. I got the Sikam Ema Datsi and struggled to finish it, though the flavor was excellent. The menu DID warn me, and so did the server. 🙂 She also brought me extra mango lassi and rice to help curb the spiciness when I stubbornly refused to give in. We are not local, but if we eat here again, I will probably just order a regular Datsi and not the extra super spicy version.

We decided not to order dessert but the waitress gave us some free mango cheesecake shooters for our anniversary. They were also very tasty!

There is also a great board gaming cafe off of the same little parking lot.
If you’re into gaming, this is a perfect spot to pick up dinner to bring over and eat at the cafe.

The food is DELICIOUS!!! Service is fantastic. It is just like how I remember it when I visited Nepal in the 80s; instant flashbacks to my childhood! I wish I lived in Lancaster, I would eat here every week if not more! If you’re sensitive to spicy food (if you consider frank’s red hot to be liquid fire), then ask for mild. I grew up thinking Sriracha was an alternative for ketchup and Thai chilis were normal to add to all food, so hot is skewed. Regardless, this restaurant is fantastic. Order many different things, chicken sekuwa is top; who doesnt like grilled seasoned tender chicken (unless youre vegetarian)?

For an Exceptional Dining Experience, Come to Norbu

I came here a few weeks ago with some friends as part of a school project. The staff couldn’t have been kinder, and the food is exceptional. The owner’s wife was happy to explain to us as much as she knew about each dish, describing how many of the flavors could be combined to form a new and distinct taste. The multicolored plate with many dishes could be eaten in a specific order (ending with the carrot dessert) or combined together! The decoration in the restaurant is colorful and eye-catching. The music they play inside also makes the environment feel very lively.
