We had a really amazing experience during dinner tonight at Nora Thai Restaurant. From the moment we arrived, every staff member was lovely and genuinely helpful, making us feel welcome right away. Special thanks to P’Palm, the owner and her lovely staff members. The restaurant’s interior design is stunning. The lighting and decorations are thoughtfully arranged, and the high ceiling adds an elegant, airy atmosphere that sets the mood for a special meal.
I actually really like the QR code ordering system on the table. Being able to see a photo of every dish made our choices so much easier and more exciting. It was simple to navigate, and we knew exactly what to expect when our food arrived.
As always, my eyes were way bigger than my tummy! We’re a couple and ordered three dishes to share. Nora offers really big, generous portions. Everything was delicious, and we wanted to finish it all, but we got so full. Since we’re staying at a hotel, takeaway wasn’t really an option. I do wish they offered a slightly smaller portion size for some popular dishes so we could sample even more flavors in one visit. If you can, I’d recommend coming with a group of friends or family so you can try a wider variety of dishes.
Our Sour Curry with Prawns and Pineapple (Kang Som) was ordered at medium spice so my partner could enjoy it too. It had a perfectly balanced flavor, and I loved the southern‑style kick of shrimp paste and heat. The Spicy Dry Chili Curry with Pork Ribs was ordered at authentic Thai spice level. It is deliciously fiery, just as expected, though my partner could only manage a few bites! To mellow things out, we tried the Moo Wan (Caramelized Braised Pork Belly with Onion), and it was wonderfully tender and rich. It is exactly what we needed to tone down the heat.
We also ordered Thai lemon iced tea, and both of us loved its refreshing, citrusy sweetness. Overall, we truly enjoyed our dining experience tonight and can’t wait to visit again on our next holiday. Nora Thai feels like a gem. Delicious food, beautiful surroundings, and service that goes the extra mile. Highly recommended!
The menu at Nora Thai is a delightful journey through the bold and aromatic flavors of Southern Thailand. Dishes like the fiery kua kling, a dry red curry made with pork mince, turmeric, lemongrass, and makrut lime leaves, showcase the region’s love for spicy and aromatic dishes. Another standout is the bai liang pad kai, a stir-fry of malindjo greens with egg and garlic, offering a unique taste that is hard to find elsewhere.
For those seeking something truly authentic, the petai bean dishes are a must-try. Often referred to as “stink beans” due to their distinctive aroma, these beans are stir-fried with prawns and pork mince, delivering a bold and unforgettable flavor.
The restaurant’s interior is simple yet charming, with white walls adorned with Thai artwork and wooden furniture creating a cozy ambiance. The staff, led by owners Thunyaluk “Palmmy” Aninpukkanuntin and Duangdao “Kana” Bannakorn, are friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant dining experience.
Whether you’re a fan of spicy food or looking to explore the rich flavors of Southern Thailand, Nora Thai Restaurant is a destination worth visiting. With its authentic dishes, welcoming atmosphere, and attentive service, it promises a dining experience that transports you straight to the streets of Surat Thani.
The food was really nice and the staff were very friendly. I’ll definitely visit again highly recommended 10/10
