Welcome to Nook, our little corner of the restaurant world. Nook is a family owned and operated restaurant. It is an expression of who we are: adventurous, whimsical, and a little eccentric. The food is built on quality ingredients that are treated respectfully and served artistically. Nook is a communal 12 seat dining room that is comfortable and professional with no barriers – literally. There are no walls between the chef and the guest. The dining room is very much a part of the kitchen, giving diners an experience to embrace and remember.
Intimate eatery with an open kitchen & understated decor dishing up an elevated tasting menu & wine.

Getting a reservation at Nook was so difficult, but it’s worth it. Each course was delicious, had unique flavors, and was artistically presented. Even if you think you don’t like a flavor, Nook will make you question that.

It took a lot of waiting and hoping to get a reservation, but it was so worth it. The chef and team are wonderful, warm and charismatic. The servers are knowledgeable and welcoming. The food was incredible and the camaraderie of sharing a table with others was a joy in connection and commiseration, as we were all painfully full by the end. I’ve never had so much fun throughout a meal. We can’t hardly wait to go back.

Phenomenal range across this large tasting menu. Dishes ranged from comfy potato chips and potatoes with french onion dip to a sous vide chicken breast in a ground cherry mole. Throughout, they paired big flavors with impeccably balanced beverages. A must-try for gastronomes.

One of the best culinary experiences you can have in the area.
Our meal was a 14 course meal with wine parings. The food was excellent and brought your senses to life. Courses are colorful, artistic, fragrant, and come with a short story about the food and wine.
The menu does change and many local foods are used.
The staff is outstanding friendly and fun making the dinner atmosphere enjoyable by the room.
One key feature is the small crowd size, our party had 12 people.
The dishes are prepared in the open so you can watch and ask questions.

I can’t imagine a better dining experience: fun, delicious, comfortable. A true representation of the Wisconsin culinary scene. Fresh ingredients highlighted by an imaginative menu that maintains approachability over attitude. The chefs and family make you feel like you’re dining in their kitchen. I went in with high expectations from friends, but was absolutely blown away.
Seriously wish I had something bad to say to discourage folks from taking up all the reservations, but please go. A proud Wisconsin experience.

If you are looking for a fun dining experience, it is a fairly nice option. The vibe is pretty friendly and casual; the plating is beautiful. However, when it comes to food I feel like (at least for our menu) they tried to put too many strong flavors on one dish and these are not always balanced. Sometimes too salty, too sour, or too sweet. (Especially the Mac and Cheese with pine and pretzel, way too much salt!! I can appreciate very strong cheese but it should be paired with something plain, not melted entirely as a cream sauce where the high salt almost tasted bitter and caused dizziness.) Among the 12 dishes, 2/12 really good appetizers raised expectations and 6/12 tasted OK, except that 1/12 was uneatable, 3/12 were a little disappointed concerning the flavor. I mean, it’s definitely not a bad place as a cozy & creative family-owned restaurant, but it do need re-polishing for the menu.

I’m half tempted to leave a bad review to deter everyone from going so I can get a reservation! I love doing tasting menus, and Nook is hands down the best one I’ve been to from Madison to Denver. The food is beyond amazing, you leave so full and the atmosphere is top tier. As soon as I can get a reservation again, I’ll be back!

We loved this place. Great food, amazing service and perfect music. We found it somewhat challenging to get reservations due to there only being 12 seats a night but it was well worth the wait!! Can’t wait until we can try it again.

Truly amazing experience at Nook! We had incredible food, and while not every course was going to be our favorite (with 13 courses, how could they be!?), each course was interesting and kept us wanting to take more bites. The ambiance was the perfect blend of low-key and relaxed, while still providing effortless (from a dining perspective – the servers were putting in a LOT of effort!) top-notch service. An extra plus was my husband had to come 45 minutes late due to a last minute babysitter issue – Chef Noah and the Nook folks caught him up on all courses when he arrived, which was not at all expected but so so appreciated. We will definitely return on another special occasion date night. We’ll be dreaming about the PB&J, pine bark, and squid courses for months to come!

Nook has some of the best cuisine Madison has to offer. Their tasting menu consists of about 14 courses. The chef walks you through each of the courses before you begin to eat. The chef had a great personality and he made it seem like I was visiting an old friend with his charm and hospitality. The seating is communal style for 12 people, so you better get ready to socialize a bit at this dinner. I am vegetarian and Nook created a separate tasting menu for me. The food was delicious and innovative. Some of the dishes were so unique that I had never heard of them before. My favorite was a pesto pasta created from heart of palms. I even bought some heart of palms the day after to try and recreate this masterpiece of a dish. I went on my birthday and I even got a small “cake” made of chocolate ganache with a candle on it. I would definitely eat here all the time if the price was lower, but there is no doubt I will return for another meal the next time I get a chance.
