I’ve been going to Noodle Gourmet since the early ’90s. Has always been a great place with fast service and absolutely delicious food. Not your typical Chinese restaurant. The dishes are always made with the perfect balance of seasonings and the portion size is just right. My favorite is the N1 Shrimp and Clams in Butter Sauce over Egg Noodles with a Pork Bun as an appetizer.

Noodle Gourmet has become a Rutgers staple. Right off of Easton Avenue, it is one of the only places on any Rutgers Campus where students can experience somewhat authentic Chinese food without needing a car. Open late, well located, and priced very reasonably, the establishment also offers a lot of charm with retro arcade offerings and boba tea as well. If you are a Rutgers student and you do not have a car, you’re not really going to be able to find better Chinese food than this.

This place has so many drink options! The dream taro green tea shake was yummy even tho it was an ugly cement gray color since they blend the green and purple together. The ginger snow bubble tea was delicious (and a much cuter white color)! In both drinks the boba was perfectly chewy. I’d definitely go back.

Decent Chinese food for the RU-NB area. Usually get the shrimp wonton soup and the eggplant chicken dish. I get bubble tea here on occasion too if I don’t feel like walking further down Easton Ave. The food is cheap and the portion size is quite good for the price. Tamp down your expectations and you will be happy with your meal.

Firstly, I’m a major “foodie” and I LOVE Chinese food. I was originally introduced to Noodle Gourmet back in 2008 by my nurse while at RWUJH. I dreamed about your Shrimp & Lobster Sauce with your pillowy-Chow Fun noodles, but I left the area and parking is a BEAR. When food delivery service expanded their mileage, I quickly ordered but today reminded me why I haven’t ordered from here in awhile. Starting off with the delivery – Packaging is awful. When it gets to you, sauces are open and spilled all over, dietary requests aren’t followed, and careful when you open your containers because whatever is in it, spills all over you and anything else in the vicinity. Missing egg roll (again). BOTH (ordered 2) Steamed pork dumplings came with a container (inside the container the dumplings are in) with the top smashed and halfway off, spilling this red dye liquid all over the food. No regular soy sauce offered/included in bag. In the garbage they go. I’ve never seen wonton soup (again) come with cloudy broth (which tasted like bean sprouts water….) and half the QT container was filled with bean sprouts. I didn’t order “bean sprout” soup with wontons. In the garbage it goes. Chicken & broc for dietary reasons was requested with white sauce and it came in brown sauce. In the garbage it goes. Egg drop soup looked delish, tasted like egg drop ware soup with a dash of salt. Eck – in the garbage it goes. I remember your chow fun noodles were always the best around. I ordered the shrimp & lobster sauce chow fun. Lobster sauce was tasty, but the shrimp were overcooked, they were hard to swallow. Your pillowy-wonderful chow fun noodles were a solid block, and there was no separating them. In the garbage it goes. Not even going to try the general Taos….. I’m going to chock this up to a $120+ loss and there are soooo many Chinese food establishments that do a better job. Reading all the reviews again today – sounds like this place needs a complete overhaul. Thoughtfulness all around is needed. Driving through the campus recently, there are so many NEW places to eat from the original fat cats to grease traps. Whatever your flavor, there are more choices. Just something to think about. Sorry….. we won’t be back.

Ordered on Uber Eats and found out there is a fly in the congee. Very concerned with the food quality.

Love love LOVE this place! Cheap, great-quality food; and you can tell they’re good especially because you can see older people consistently coming back! My soup in this picture was I think $8, and the bok choy with garlic side (huge serving! totally scratched my ‘bok choy’ itch!) was $5.75. Definitely would recommend. Right down the road is Surreal Creamery – if you’re craving something sweet after, they have decent deals on ice cream & bubble tea (they have taro ice cream!).

Good wok-hay, nice flavors, but just a little too much sauce and protein portion can be a little better
