We had a truly memorable experience at Nonna Luisa Ristorante while we were in town for my daughter’s swim meet at the nearby pool — which also happened to fall on her birthday.

From the moment we walked in, the owner welcomed us like family. He is an incredibly kind and gracious gentleman who went out of his way to make my daughter feel special on her birthday. That personal touch meant a lot to us and made the evening unforgettable.

The food was outstanding. Even the seemingly simple Caesar salad tasted different — in the best possible way. You can tell the ingredients are fresh and thoughtfully prepared; the dressing had depth and balance that you don’t often find.

The highlight of the evening was the Lasagna Sofia Loren. It’s a rich, indulgent creation layered with lobster, crab, prawn, and béchamel. The combination is luxurious, creamy, and deeply satisfying without feeling heavy. Every bite felt carefully crafted.

Between the warm hospitality and the exceptional food, this dinner turned a swim meet trip into a beautiful birthday memory. We will absolutely return the next time we’re in the area. Highly recommended.

I’m a bit late in posting this, but my meal at Nonna Luisa last month was so memorable I had to make sure they got the credit they deserve.
From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was perfect. They start you off with incredible bread and honestly, I could have just kept eating that all night and been happy. For the main course, I had a variation of spaghetti with sausage. It was something I’ve haven’t had in a long time, but it was savory, delicious, and easily some of the best pasta I’ve ever had.
What really sets this place apart is the service and the owner. He spends his time walking the floor and treating every guest like family, creating a truly authentic Italian experience. When I tried to speak a little Italian when I walked in and froze up, he was incredibly kind and patient. That level of genuine hospitality is rare. Leaving was just as pleasant as arriving, complete with a handshake and a sincere thank you.
If you want amazing food and a place where you feel genuinely welcome, this is it. I won’t forget the kindness or the meal!

This place is incredible and this is coming from a very judgemental wannabe food critic. My boyfriend and I shared a lovely dinner here! The Italian host at the front was entertaining while we waiting for a table, don’t come without a reso, we didn’t, and waited quite a bit but well worth it!! We had the pork belly cannelloni and it was by far a 10/10. The house red was also a great pairing. The bread is fresh a long with the crisp Caesar salad, and the dressing was lovely. I’ve never been so excited to eat my left overs the next day. If you’ve been reccomended by someone to go here, do not miss out!! The family feel vibes are also so cozy!

Fabulous experience for Valentine’s Day. It was very busy – standing room only as we waited for our table. We had a little bit of everything – caprese, arugula salad, bread and crab bisque for starters, tenderloin and lobster lasagna for our entrees, rounded off with spumoni for dessert. We left very very very very full and very satisfied. Highly recommend.

After flying in from Florida we were starving so we arrived at the restaurant at 4:30 pm without a reservation. After reviewing the list of specials with our server we decided on the eggplant appetizer, the ravioli with butternut squash (Ravioli Zucca) & a mushroom pasta both from the special menu. The food was amazing. !! Fresh & delicious. The complimentary bread was hot & delicious! Service was spot on too. Highly recommend this restaurant if you are in Anacortes.

Love Love Love!!!! This is the best Italian food around the area. The service has always been wonderful. Recommend making reservations ahead of time. They have fit us in before as walk ins but you might be waiting a little bit. The food is 100% worth the wait though. The atmosphere reminds me of my Nonnas home growing up. The balsamic vinegar is my favorite and the bruschetta! They ran out on Valentine’s Day but more the reason to go back❤️

We have been here several times. Sometimes we are with family, sometimes we bring friends, and a few times we have had tiny wild toddlers along. Every single time has been nothing short of wonderful.

The service is great. It seems they have one set of staff for taking orders and attending to any special requests, and another set of staff that are completely dedicated to filling waters and bringing out more of their delicious warm bread. Yes, they have a large specialty menu on a regular basis, and when they say specials they mean special! Those items are always winners. It does take a while for the servers to explain each special, but when we know we want something from the regular menu, we just let them know they can skip that part and they are always happy to do it.

The owners are family people and actually Italian. When we brought my 1 year old niece, there wasn’t much we would order her, so one of the owners made the cutest place of crushed tomatoes and stuff for her to pick at. He asked permission of course and it was a really sweet touch. Another time, an owner came over and offered us a taste of some cheese he had just brought from Italy. Anything we have ever asked for has been accommodated.

The food is delicious. I actually fell in love with the salmon pasta on the regular menu, as well as the tiramisu dessert, so I almost didn’t try the special menu. I’m so glad I did, though, because every item I have tried off the specialty menu has had me dreaming of the next visit!

This place is so special and an absolute must try for anyone we have come visit.

Pro tip: We love doing an early dinner to avoid any crowd. It’s fine with the hustle and bustle too, but nothing beats having such a wonderful meal and then time to relax at home afterward or drive by the water.

Wow. Just wow. The service, the FOOD, the atmosphere. It was so amazing. I came out in a better mood. We will be coming here as much as possible. The food is worth it!! I got the seafood ravioli special, my husband got lamb, my son got Mac n cheese, and we all got cannolis. The scallops melted in my mouth!!!! I got a surprise mocktail that was so fantastic. Wow. The flavors were so good. The food was fresh.

We’ve come here a second time now. I struggled with giving them three versus four stars and erred on the side of three. I really like that all of their recipes are house made. They have a lot of different options that go well together, however I feel that due to them having such an extensive specials menu, they lack putting in enough to each dish individually. We’ve been to countless Itslian restaurants, from California to Mew York, across the state, and when we spent 2 weeks touring small towns in Italy. The food here is decent, and will be better than the next Italian restaurant 20 mins away. But the dishes we’ve gotten have always been a little underwhelming. Tonight I got the risotto special with the braised pork ragu. The risotto had great texture, and the ragu was honestly great – tender and flavorful. But the risotto and red sauce that the ragu was braised in lacked flavor. The only word I can use is “bland.” My husband got the Braciola, which is something I make at home during holidays, and have had at a neighboring restaurant in Bellinham. Here it was very dry, and the ingredients weren’t incorporated properly, resulting in it to be dry meat with random chunks of ingredients falling out of it, instead of a conducive dish. I think this restaurant has great potential. I think with a little more attention to detail and care with the dishes, even if that means a longer wait or shorter menu, will really make this place stand out. In the meantime I would not recommend someone to go out of their way to try them, unfortunately.

Amazing on every level! You’re greeted by a friendly gentleman that makes you feel like you’re being welcomed into his family home immediately. The service is top notch, specialty board menus that are hand written and explained in decadent detail, which makes it hard to choose just one entree.
The ambiance of this delectable lil restaurant is also authentic to its cuisine and location, set in the quaint little seaside town of Anacortes.
Watching the evening unfold is like a production that has many layers that add to the experience, including a live musician that embellishes the night perfectly.
And the food… I cannot say enough about it all. From the appetizers, salads, entrees, dessert and right down to the lemon drop drink to end it all. Hands down THE BEST Italian food I have ever eaten. Such high quality ingredients that your palette dances to with every bite.
I highly recommend visiting Nonnas , as I know you will not be disappointed at all!
