Reviews
This review is from Nonna Lisa’s Kitchen when it was in Milmont Park PA, have never been to this location.
Quality pizza, fair price, looking forward to eating here again as their many other Italian dishes look so tasty as well!
So much deliciousness for only $11
We thought this was Nonna Lisa’s Italian Kitchen, where we’ve ordered delivery from before, and wanted to try dining in the actual restaurant. Very confusing. Some signs say Carmen’s, some signs say Nonna Lisa’s and some signs say Dellapolla’s.
It was very dark and a little noisy in the dining area, but we were still wanting to finally have Italian food and pizza in an actual restaurant. It seemed far enough from the bar area and there were only a couple people at the bar and one other table occupied in the dining area.
About 20 minutes after arriving (and about ten minutes after ordering), a large baseball team came into the bar. Immediately the music was turned up to deafening and a lot of yelling from the team. (We had a toddler with us. We thought we were going to an Italian restaurant, not a bar.)
After being there over 30 minutes, no appetizers, no sign of our waitress. We waited another ten minutes or so and then went to find her. We asked if we could take all of our food to go. She said no problem, apologized that it was so loud, she had no idea the team was coming.
She came out and said he was packing the food up. Again we waited and at this point one of our party took my grandson to the car because now there was foul language and much noisier at the bar with 30 or 40 ball players.
Ten minutes later we paid and asked if it would be much longer, as half of our party was in the car outside waiting. This was about 45 minutes from the time we arrived.
Our waitress, who said it was her first night, said she would go check and again apologized. Five minutes later, the cook came and told us he’d refund us, as he hadn’t even started our food.
He said he had phone orders and all those baseball players orders ahead of us. I told him we were there before the baseball team and that we had put our order in well before they arrived.
He said “THAT IS NOT TRUE.” I said, yes, sir, it is true. There was hardly anyone here when we placed our order. If that’s what it looked like when we came in, WE WOULD NOT HAVE SAT DOWN WITH A TODDLER. And we were told a few minutes ago that our order was done and being packed.
At this point he threw his new waitress under the bus and said she shouldn’t have told us that as the food wasn’t even started.
He then went on to tell me I obviously didn’t know what was going on in the world today with restaurants being short staffed. I explained I was in food service and that I did understand. But since we were there well before the team, we should have been taken care of first.
He told us we could come back to the kitchen and see all of his orders, that he was going to lock the door and take the phone off the hook because he couldn’t handle it. I said that wasn’t necessary, we’d take a refund.
He gave a cash refund even though the bill had been paid on a card. We started to leave when we realized we were shorted. Apparently he didn’t want to refund the $2 “non-cash payment” fee they charge for credit card payments.
This man said he was the owner. We’re still completely blown away about how this was handled. Short staffed? I totally understand. Come out and tell us it’ll be a 2 hour wait or whatever. Don’t lie to your waitress and then throw her under the bus.
We arrived at 6:42 and left at 7:41. 59 minutes wasted. Never again.
We’ve loved the food from Nonna Lisa’s that we got delivered in the past. Such a shame how this was handled. Obviously they do not care about loyal customers who have recommended them over and over.
